Cartwright

Carty gets led by his slug too easily. He needs to be neutered. A mate of mine was telling me the other day that he has just purchased his current flame a land rover. Great you say! The trouble is, he got it from a rival dealer to their owner, Frizelles. Then he took photos and proudly put them on his social media. This pissed off the part owner. He is also not a good trainer and has a bad attitude towards advice, apparently.

He and DCE may bring out the best in each other! @:p

Sounds like brains aren't his long suit either ....

If it was just initially a short term arrangement for the remainder of the season and taking into account the Hastings and Uate situation , could be a reasonable proposition bringing him in . If Jake , Siro and Thommo are regarded as the club's best back row options and with A P I and Fainu also available next season , no doubt then could be an issue there trying to accommodate Cartwright , including bench options . Has shown a lot of good natural skills and attributes , no doubt is still capable of reproducing it [ maybe not an apt term in this case ] but again whether that would suit Manly 's requirements for next season is another matter . Again if it was just a short term consideration and to just see how he would go and with the present injury scenario , could be all right as a mid season signing .

The bloke was close to the best up & coming player in the game 2-3 seasons ago and played crap since, apart from a winning cameo role to knock us out against Penrith 2017 along with the Peachey - Maradonna hand of God try....
The way he has gone backwards and the level he has dropped is huge and can he get it back - debatable??
If Manly got him to play even at Blacktown to see where he was at in an attempt to come back by 2019 at a low price, I take a yes vote.
To lock him in with say a 2-3 year contract on current form would be crazy.
Talent does not just vanish, but with bad attitude it certainly finds a place to hide....and the Cartwright from 2016 is now Harry Houdini....

@mozgrame has suggested he will perform better as a gelding .....

Kent in the tele today mentioned Cartwright, Uncle, Manly bound and apprehensive Baz all in the same sentence ......

I predict chaos ... chaos I tell ye ......
Kent's Tele article;

Cartwright is quietly being sold to Manly on the premise of playing under his uncle John, the former Titans coach now assistant to Trent Barrett.

Uncle John can get Bryce going, goes the sell.

But hang on, isn’t that why Cartwright was supposed to succeed under Brennan?

Brennan in February: “If you speak to Gus [Panthers general manager Phil Gould] I think he’ll make comment that I am probably the only coach that’s going to get the best out of Bryce because of our relationship together.”

Barrett is said to be apprehensive about the signing.

Thanks Anthony ..... It is an obvious rumour to circulate ...... laughed at the bit about Baz being apprehensive ..... gob-smacked probably ..... understatement of the year ...

PSS Don't shoot Anthony or I ... we are merely messengers ..

Kids 23. Back row rotation of Thompson, Sironen, Trbojevic and Cartwright is strong.

Up front, you then have Fonua-Blake, Taupau, Tanginoa and Paseka.

Hooker and utility: Koroisou and Fainu

That reads to me extremely good quality throughout

No doubt Bryce could be a destructive attacking 2nd rower in the Gifty mould .... but I am seriously concerned that the kid has **** for brains ..... as always it gets back to how much .... if it is a minimum contract and he plays at Blacktown then so be it ...

I guess with Brown not getting renewed we need a new whipping boy, I predict he will be as successful and liked as Brown. Welcome to another 3yrs of doom & gloom @:(

If its Motivation or Attitude that was some of his problem, you'd think moving to the coast like a couple of months ago would get him going in the right direction. Thats a worry in itself , but for the right price which im guessing would be a fair id take him .

I dunno about Cartwright tbh. Players that seem to have drama follow them in their personal lives rarely live up to their potential on the footy field. There's always distractions going on for them. Plus I really think we need to recruit some players with strong leadership qualities. Our team lacks that big time atm. James Graham at the Dragons shows how a team can be transformed with men of character and mental toughness. Hopefully we take that side of things into account in our future recruiting .

For the record. He didnt want to leave Penrith,he was forced out.His old man Dave was my boss and still works where I work and he was fuming when he was pushed out. So if your not playing where you want to play, I reckon it would make it hard to get motivated. The Cartwright and Jones faction was thick at Penrith, there maybe a bit of a crack in that armour. There are blokes at Penrith that have been there way to long. I was there when he was coming through, so I reckon he would still be worth a shot for the right price

I wouldn't mind him. But food for thought. If he wants to be at penrith.. how is manly even relatively close to penrith?

1. This is exactly what a professional sportsman does.
2. Fathers often see their sons differently, for better or for worse.
3. FWIW, in response to someone on Twitter who said the GC should help Cartwright, Gus Gould said "a player has to want to be helped".
