We need an assistant that isn't passive. J. Cartwright seemed as passive as they come. Someone is needed to work with our attack, be passionate and balance ideas out with Des. Toovey would be crazy good and seems perfectly suited. If not, i'm just happy we have made this move in the right direction.

That goes with all our movements heard today

• Bring in speed, potential and size to our backline in Saab
• Get rid of probably our biggest defensive liability Garrick (and weakest at hitups)
• Get rid of a passive, unpassionate assistant coach, hopefully get one to help our attack
• Get rid of Waddell, decent depth but we might actually win a penalty count now and apart from his one in a blue moon good performances he seems invisible and clumsy.

Assistant's role could be a good job opening for the Walker Brothers. Could be the innovative option we need for next season.

I don't think any NRL club will hire them as head coaches until they have experience within an NRL club itself.

Flanagan is the best coach on the market. He'd reinvigorate the way we play. But does DES just want a yes man?
