Bulldogs shopping 5 players

Clubs shouldn't take the players they want rid of they should poach those they want to keep

That said I can see the knights going for Graham

I bet a few clubs have signed players thinking the cap was going to be 10 million. Dont think we are one, as even though we have 1 million on the side lines haven't been too active as i think we maybe already close to the 9 million mark or could be sitting back waiting for clubs to release players if they have gone over. Which is smart by manly.

Surely panthers, dogs, roosters and Brisbane would be over.

No worries for Brisbane, their players will just magically agree to accepting a few hundred grand less than they signed for because they just love the place so much.

I wouldn't want any of them unless they were coming at bargain basement prices. Graham for the bench on $250k maybe

Agree, if Dogs paid $500k for two years and we paid the other $500k I reckon he'd be just the guy for us!!

Can someone clear a small matter up for me. If the Mongrel Dogs manage to offload say Graham, and pay half his existing contract, how does that work on cap relief? They simply get 500k wiped off and we are loaded with the other 500k?

Apologies in advance if it seems a silly question, but with the way the NRL operates, I tend to give a wide berth to logical assumptions and wondered if someone had the facts on how the transaction is treated.

I beg to differ!

Great footballer....very very average administrator!
You don't rate the team he's put together with more than a million less in the cap than the other 15 clubs? What are the reasons you say he is very very average? I take it you aren't including the two premierships as a coach under the classification of administrator. Not having a go, I just hear he's sh1t but never really get many examples of what it is he's done to be branded as very very average.

What this really shows is Hasler tried bending the Salary cap to win a Premiership at the Dogs and failed...
Would prefer who we have than those guys with Graham a maybe under $250k a year....
Hope they can't offload who they want and are forced to release Klemmer or Jackson....then its game on...

Klemmer is the only current 1st grade Bulldog we should be looking at.

The rest have no upside for us.

We can laugh at Des and the Bulldogs all we like, but the real problem is that 4 weeks out from finals, Todd Greenburg and the NRL cannot say what the Salary cap will be for next season.

What a sh!t show.
Agree that the Cap for 2018 is still being negotiated.

However, Dez contracted these players years ago, when he knew that Cap and that he could not fit their contract monies into it at that time 😎

Probably one of the reasons for the reported tension and ill feeling between Greenburg and Grant at one stage this year and no doubt with Greenburg agitating for a higher cap level to suit certain club"s interests . Talk about administration dysfunction. Manly of course would not be the only club in a position to take advantage of any of the club"s who may have already exceeded the anticipated future cap limits but maybe again the situation with Tom and Jake"s recent upgrade [ probably an increase in the 800 grand vicinity }, and the fact that existing contracted players such as Jorge, Bainbridge , Tanginoa , Paseka , Joey Lussick and Schuster are still yet to be re signed, may be influencing their recruiting strategy outlook at present also . Not saying that all of these players will be retained but again then also, there is the requirement to fully take over Uate and Siro "s contract payments next season in addition to numerous other players such as A P I , A F B , Lane and others off contract next year . In any case a prop rotation of Marty, Darcy , AFB and Perrett seems quite appealing to me for next season .. Anyway there is always the English S L for any N R L players who may not be able to be accommodated in next year"s cap requirements.

Just remember when everyone says all those Dogs players are past it and have nothing to offer, that exactly the same was said about Uate pre season
