Brookvale Oval – redevelopment over the off season? ..!!

In all seriousness it’s not going to happen and we should be bracing ourselves to play elsewhere or be relocated , because what Toddy wants Toddy gets!!

I know that’s bloody sad , but I just can’t see it changing.

Nothing has happened for years and nothing will!

We should run a poll to see how many more years we will play out of Brookie.

I hate to say it but it can’t be many more.

I think there are some exciting times for Brookvale. A new town centre and new development from Warringah Mall to Bookie Oval is now part of the plan. That will happen over the next 2 to 5 years.

Then there could be a plan to have Brookie Oval to have the TAFE in it or a new Northern Beaches (small University)?

Brookie Oval will get done – but we need to something really finalised over the next 12 to 24 months or will all lose faith ! It’s been going on far too long !!

Former Warringah mayor Michael Regan (now the new Northern Beaches Mayor) said the new "Brookvale Town Centre" should be expanded and book-ended by the Lottoland stadium.

“I am surprised it does not include Brookvale Oval (Lottoland) and the leagues club,” Mr Regan said.

“To not include possible options around Brookvale Oval seems like a missed opportunity.”

Other article when he became Mayor:

“As a new Council with greater capacity to manage a significant project like this, now is the time to make this happen. We must unlock the potential sporting and other community users of this site. It is currently a massive burden on the ratepayer, and it is our duty to ensure we futureproof it and enhance the community benefits and opportunity,” Mayor Regan said.

Potential redevelopment could include new eastern and western stands incorporating a Centre of Excellence with an expanded range of community uses and mixed use development.

Initial steps will include community engagement based on a potential concept to be developed in consultation with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles as Council’s major tenant.

“Myself and fellow Councillors are very keen to engage with the whole Northern Beaches community on the future of Brookie,” Mayor Regan said

A report on the outcome of community consultation will be provided in early 2018.

unfortunately, I think this caption in the Manly Daily this morning captures the total who gives a fuk about Manly and Brookie Oval from the politicians.

Meanwhile, the local council charge Manly the highest ground rental in the NRL for the worst ground - there needs to be an investigation.

ZtH was whining in the MD today about the lack of a medicab at Brookvale, blaming everyone else for the lack of one.

If his in laws really cared about player welfare, they would fork out for one themselves. They have deep pockets.

And if they were prepared to meet Council halfway more often, maybe they might get a better result regarding the ground, from Council, more often.

They have deep pockets but it's not their ground.

There is no access onto the field for a medical any more

The talkfest must end!! They either upgrade the ground or we move on!! The future of our club is on the line. There is no way we can survive long term without a modern facility that our club deserves!!

I don't know why the club doesn't 'fire a warning shot' and warn the Northern Beaches Council unless the $10-m is spent on improvements then they will play a match at Rat Park to test out if it could become home to the Manly Sea Eagles as co-tenants with Warringah Rugby. There are several Councillors who claim to want to upgrade Brookie but are obviously all talk.
If the Council lost the Sea Eagles as the major tenant it would be left with a financial burden ratepayers would be unhappy with.
There needs to be some pro-activity by the Council as the Liberals have turned their backs on their heartland voters.

It’s substandard, Brooky re-development won’t happen and as others have pointed out we will be playing out of other stadiums soon enough. More fluff pieces about upgrades are always brought up but nothing eventuates then the Prime Minister changes, Premier changes and you are back at square 1. How much committed $$$ is sitting waiting for something to happen?

Penns pay top dollar to play out of Brookie so i don’t see how it can be up to them to make something happen? It hasn’t got support from the NRL (and never will) and both Feds and State Gov’t give you promises just to get your votes until the next election (election yr coming up so can’t wait for the next fairy dust promise).

It will take the NRL, Council, Fed and State Gov’t to make something happen so there is no chance of anything happening.

And that is difficult to rectify?
Probably, because at this stage a medicab can only take a player from the Middle of the field to just the sideline. They probably need access to the dressing rooms as well.
Anyway, it's a council thing , so nothing will be happening, as usual.

Having our team based out of the Northern Beaches has been one of the best selling points for the club in attracting players for a long time. There's no better place to live in Sydney. We need to stay here to compensate for our lack of other resources or we face becoming another generic Sydney club but without the membership base of the others, especially if those members have to travel on a weekly basis. I hope Gorman is working on this and more local community engagement, it can only lead to good things for our club.

No

Every year we have the Brookie Show which requires large trucks to set up the stalls.:wait:

The Council just want to forget about Brookie . Regan wants artificial surface but the NRL don't 😕

Hope some reporter asks Marty about the artificial turf in Denver.

No player showed grazing from what I saw and the game was rough and tough 🙂

:wait: Mile High is a Kentucky Bluegrass surface not artificial. http://www.sportsauthorityfieldatmilehigh.com/stadium-information/guest-information#Playing Surface
I believe that the argument is more around ligament injuries rather than "carpet burn" injuries as artificial turf fixed this problem a while ago, however the ligament injuries are much harder to isolate the root cause of and there are studies both advocating and warning against artificial playing surfaces, and these can also depend on the type of sport being played. I doubt there is a great deal of data available to conduct a study on the pros and cons of an artificial surface for rugby league games which will make it difficult for anyone to make a case for it.
