Brian Kelly - A Winner

This young bloke showed classy footwork and evasive skills nearly first touch against the Eels and has looked sharp without much opportunity in all games.
But what I really rate about this kid is toughness - has stepped up to NRL level and fitted straight in.
He scoots well from dummy half against the big forward packs and comes out ok, plus his defensive contacts have been top class in every game, as the opposition attempt to test the new kid with not too much luck.
Though he has obvious quality for a youngster, super impressed he has that old school footy going on where he is not fazed by reputation, size and unlike many kids his age - does not just want to catch the ball in pretty positions to Finish a movement, gets in and helps out the team in those ugly situations - very rare for a rookie, especially a centre.
Keep it up Kelly - been Super impressive early on.

True, but he has a season more games than Kelly and we all expect a Roo/SOO player to be well ahead of this young kid

This Walker-Kelly combination could be the top centre partnership in the comp in a few years. They are both tough, fast and skillful and despite some noted defensive lapses from Walker against Souths, he is much better defensively than is given credit.

On average over the first three games Kelly has done 13 tackles and 3 missed tackles per game. Walker has a little over 12 tackles and a little over 2 missed tackles per game. Walker missed a lot against Souths, Kelly missed a lot against Parramatta. But both are on par for the amount of defensive work they do, which is quite a bit more than most centres

I think he's ahead of Matai at their same points in the careers, and very similar players. Literally, I think in a few years, they could potentially be at least the equal of Lyon / Matai, and I KNOW that's a huge call.
