I don't think any one is comparing Kelly with Walker as there is no comparison .The criticism of Kelly is quite harsh in my opinion. I think many are looking at Walker and comparing, but Walker is already a 3-4 season first grader and an international. Further we forget too quickly how poor Walker was in his first season at Manly. Makes Kelly's performances look brilliant. Some suggesting his defence is not up to it need to realise his defence is almost level with Walker in tackles made and little different in tackles missed. He hasnt been as spectacular as Walker, but he still does some very clever things almost reminiscent of a young Jamie Lyon. Suggesting Parker should take the role just doesnt sit right with me at this stage. Parker may turn into something special, but we've only seen hints of it so far. Risking a novice at this stage of the comp, replacing someone who has established himself quite well in his position would be highly risky. Not saying Parker shouldnt be given a chance, but let him wait his turn. Both Parker and Kelly will improve. Let them develop at their own pace.
What worries me about Kelly is that he reminds me of Albert Torrens, we expected big things from Albert but he never really delivered, yes he was honest and tried hard, but he just lacked a few yards in pace and also size compared to other centres to get his game to another level.I don't think any one is comparing Kelly with Walker as there is no comparison .
They are only evaluating Kelly on his recent performances .
Yes Kelly is young and only 21 but Tommy Turbo is younger at 20 years of age and was carving them up last year at the age of 19
Kalyn Ponga the sensational back from North Queensland signed a lucrative contract with the Knights at the age of 18 last season
Laterall Mitcell is 20 years of age
Dallin Watene Zelezniak is 21 years of age and was carving them up with his blistering pace at Penrith at the age of 18
The Morris twins were carving teams up at St George back in 2007 at the age of 20
Quality players at the age of 18 have represented at state and international level
I am not saying Kelly will not mature in to a good player . We all hope he does
All I am saying is .....
IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH THEN YOUR OLD ENOUGH

We all hope Kelly does wellBut you know that players go through form variations. Only a couple of months ago Kelly was being haled as our next big thing. Players go through dips in form, especially when other teams see how dangerous they can be and cover them more. Even Tommy Turbo went through a slump last year. Mitchell certainly did. The other players mentioned havent been stars every game.
What I've seen recently of Kelly is that he's matching Walker in defence (the stats show that), he is still scoring some outstanding tries (the one against the Warriors showed good pace and cleverly remaining in the play for a return pass), his wingers Taufua and now Wright are getting good service from him and scoring tries regularly. He's doing his job, but he is more a thinking centre who usually makes the clever play few other centres can make. But he's still young and learning. Those others you spoke of didnt play brilliantly all the time. They had good and bad games, which is more likely for a young player. He's cleverer than Torrens was, and I think this kid will surprise in a year or two just what he can do.
