Blacktown Sea Eagles Live on Foxtel - Saturday 15:10

Fainu is a Development player so he can play NRL and not be counted in the Top 30 Cap.

Only if we don't have any other players who can play the position he is to be used in I believe mate. That could be wrong. could be wrong

As long as Brown and Hastings etc are AVAILABLE I doubt we would be given a dispensation to use him unless we can't name 21 fit players on a tuesday. Even then he would need to be the first one to drop out I would think.

To clear up some misunderstanding the only way a development player like Fainu and Anderson can play NRL is if the salary cap auditor agrees that there is no one else who can play their positions. For them to be included this year would require us to have no one available in their position or we upgrade their contacts to NRL status and thus taking the final 2 spots in the roster. The alternative is purchasing two outside players before June 30.

My take on the blacktown game and the players of note.

Jade Anderson.

Ive liked this kid for a long time. He's talented, fast has a go and is a goal kicker. Future first grader.

Moses Suli.

I havent seen him play too many games. TBH i was underwhelmed with him yesterday. I know they were under pressure but you would expect to see something from a kid as hightly rated as he.

Tom Wright.

Literally the only time i have seen this guy dominate is in the u/20 finals series. They say they dont know what his best position is yet and that really worries me. No doubt he's got talent but if he cant pin down one position and dominate in reserve grade then how will he do it in the NRL?

Manase Fainu.

He looks the goods. Probably the only one in the blacktown team you would consider blooding before his time.

Tof Sipley.

Looks good to me. Not quite as lean as i would like him to be. He would be a monster if he had an engine. He's solid in defence and aggressive in attack. Was ripped off a deadset barge over try yesterday.

Lloyd Perret played big minutes but he is a dead set cream puff. He is chubby. I would like to see him play 10 kgs lighter. I really dont think Jackson Hastings wants to play forst grade for us. No one could turn up and play like he did if he wanted to play first grade. Jonathan Wright was surprisingly ok in the back row. He's just trying to pro long his career though. Vai Toutai and John Folau are massive bodies. They are probably around 5th and 6th choice wingers though. If i was them id be trying to get into the back row.

As i said. Manase Fainu is the only one i would consider blooding early. It could be damaging for the rest, at least until the finals are proven to be out of reach. They dont need that pressure.

This weekend will 1000% be Api at 6 and Brown and 9.

When the finals dream is over id like to see this team

1. Trebojevic
2. Anderson
3. Walker
4. Kelly
5. T.Wright
6. Api
7. DCE
8. Tapau
9. Fainu
10. Fonua Blake
11. Thompson
12. Winterstein
13. Trebojevic

14. Gosewski
15. Sipley
16. Paseka
17 Lane

Agree with all of the above except I’m not sure about Wright. He looks to be the type of player who could benefit from being around better players. If picked on the wing he will have no problem with involvement. Wingers in first grade get more ball due to better spreads and run more metres than anyone bar fullbacks.

Also thought Amone was easily best forward after Fainu. Rest were piederpuffs. And Fainu has a lovely kicking game. Oh to have a kicker at 9.Suli very disappointing.

The finals dream is over. We will be 2 and 9 in three weeks. Those 3 on the road are simply a bridge too far.

Get some new blood in there. Broncos picked an 18 year old at prop last week!and he killed it. I don’t buy the old myth that you destroy a kid with a couple of games in first grade. If it doesn’t work they know what to work on. Simple as that .

Nice summation @Stevo . I'll admit I've been on the Hasting/messiah/love train, he did nothing wrong yesterday, he just did nothing outstanding that would've forced TBs hand into bringing him back to firsts.
And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought Poo did alright at hooker this week. Still not sold on Api @6, but what can you do?

Well hopefully Nu Brown comes across. He's not the messiah either but he's the goods. Pretty sure he kicked 7 or 8 yesterday too.

Sue i dont think bringing them up early will destroy them. I just dont think they need the pressure of trying to save the team. Its all good to say its just for experience but when the season is still alive then EVERYONE will expect results from them. I just cant see what good it would do. At least if the season is over they can come in and do their best. If they win games it will be the rise of the baby sea eagles. If they dont then no one will expect them too anyway.

Poo to 5/8?

I think Anderson, Fainu are ready today.
T Wright is worth a gig also.
Hastings was ok but looked a little distant in general play, the best thing from him early on was a MAJOR miss in the Top grade atm -TALK - He was yapping in the ruck which was great early , but this deteriated with the scoreboard....maybe his fitness or intensity evaporated as the game went, but it was good to actually hear someone organising and giving directions....the best 5/8 option by a few 1000 miles still and if not in top grade next week will be surprised.
Tom Wright scored a blistering try but 10 exciting seconds of good play in a match needs to be backed up with more involvement....no good to have undeniable talent and not use it.
Would still give him a go, as he can add much needed spark and maybe on the big stage will aim up more....will never no if he is not given a show, not much to lose atm.

It s/b API at 9 JH at 6 and Browny in the bench
JH is a better 5/8 than Api and API is a better 9 than Brown also give Tom Wright a go on the wing Try something a little out of the box .As someone here said before The Broncos ran out an 18 yo prop and he killed it also Paseka has done really well since he got his chance
It’s not rocket surgery or is that brain science?

Yep. Two ways to look at it for sure.

I suppose as fans we are a little biased towards new blood as we’ve seen enough of blokes who are not good enough to turn things around and are at the back end of their careers .

Fainu is the most versatile and has the size and ability to tackle in midfield, unlike Tom and Jade.

Also has a kicking game

It will be an interesting team next round
