Big story brewing

To be honest, I thought that the title of this thread was about a new beer company. 😎

Faster is better in 2021 and not to be outdone the NRL is fast making its own administrative mess. Short term gains pandering to networks and powerful clubs could put the integrity of the competition offside with fans not content with the 6 agan call on zero tackle.

The fans, punters are vulenrable . The integrity and eveness of the competition is under a constant cloud. The roosters salary sombrero is an accepted term in RL venacular just as an shameless example .

The intergrity foundations are wobbly and a hanse cronje moment could be devastating for the NRL at such uncertain times. Sport , supposedly is reality tv but the indifferent management of all components from the cap, the draw, the rules, and the punishments that seemingly benefit some more than others has many fans in hopeful denial as opposed to trust and belief.

At a time where most fans genuinely believe the rules are massaged under the guise of more footy , and crucial stats are being watered down to create an illusion of fairness , yet are more important than ever to the result.

Ultimately this puts too more emphasis on refs decisions and puts them dead centre when results are tallied . Its not healthy for the game because it puts the whistle blower in an Uneasy position of potentially becoming the despensible 14 th man

Duty of care

As I was the one who posted this 'intel' I'm starting to wonder why nothing has slipped into the media about it? Rumours are the lifeblood of this sport, so why not this one? (BTW this 'intel' was provided to me as fact, with supporting info about the dire result this "gambling problem" has created in the alleged ref's home life).
There was no suggestion that the alleged ref's gambling had an impact on his rugby league duties, but the worst thing that could happen to any sport is to believe there is corruption at the highest level. It's been proven to happen in cricket and tennis so anything is possible.
If the 'intel' is untrue then it is good no media has not reported it. However, if it is true then the media must realise the credibility of the sport is in question and that their livelihood is in danger by reporting it.

So no news... no surprise.

This is how they do things in a professional league...

Ref, caught on a hot mic saying he wanted to penalise a team... moments after penalising the said team, is fired from refereeing.

Quote:

..............The comments made by Peel came moments after Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson was called for a tripping penalty on Detroit's Jon Merrill early in the second period.

"It wasn't much, but I wanted to get a f***** penalty against Nashville early in the..." a background voice said on the broadcast before becoming inaudible...............

this articles says what we all say about our clod headed refs
