Ben T Mods don't Move!

I want to post a thread about a player. And about an idea. I don't want it to be swallowed up in the endless sycophantic 'can we get to 500 pages' of bickering that the mods on this site seem to think is good for business.

It's clearly not.

The level of intelligent discussion and honest and fair back and forth has disintegrated on this site so badly in the last few years it's flabbergasting.

We don't need 500 page long threads.

Organising something into the 'Daily Cherrygraph', or the 'Keiran Forum's might have been the highlight of your creative output on your fifty-ish years on this planet, but scouring through the hundreds of posts not related to a particular aspect that a user wants to engage with is ducking annoying.

Save that OCD crap for your shed.

Anyway,

I'd love to see Ben go, next year to a strong ESL team for two years, to get out of the shadow of his brothers and his family name, develop his ball playing (which is his biggest point of difference amongst back rowers nowadays who are just hole runners) and come back to Manly to eventually captain the team.

I have never understood the knock on him from posters here.

He is young. He is never found out for want of trying, and he is possibly going to end up being a big Matt Prior, Tapine style front rower at thirty.

But I think time away from the bubble and the pressure of the family name is what the kid needs.

Thoughts?

Hes a young forward club have put years of development into. Think we Want to hang onto the few of those we have. What I'd prefer over a holiday for a young bloke in Europe, is that he gets a good slapping across the face 70s style before he runs out. Our Trevor just needs a bit more mongrel, dam soft turbos.

Sorry, but he is not NRL standard and should not be in the team - only their because of the family name. Weak offensively and very poor in defence. His lateral movement is horrendous.

Oh ffs. How precious do you have to be to think that your golden thoughts are always deserving of their own thread forever.

What is the problem with finding a Ben T thread and making your point about you wanting him to go to superleague, which you haven't intimated in your title, hence forcing people to open your bleat?

Instead your thread really seems to be about having a go at the unpaid people who keep Silvertails in great shape. And who is the OCD one here?

And you've created a problem for the mods. Do they move your thread to a Ben T one or one called Mindless Bitching Part 27? Perhaps you nominate which one yourself, thereby giving you the power you seem to desire. Or you could ask Dan if you could become a mod and do the endless, thankless work that involves.

I tend to think for how rangey Ben is his biggest weakness is the fact he almost always gets chopped down at the legs and falls. Not sure if this is a tactic to find his front quickly or a lack of leg power but he seems quite easy to put down compared to your typical edge forward. Outside of this he’s fairly serviceable as an edge besides maybe lateral defence. I’d be holding onto him for second row interchange depth role but would hope for a lot of improvement before I see him as a vital cog in a premiership push.

Master of persuasion. I know! I'll the insult the people who spend hours working for free to keep this site afloat, this will be a great way to make my point
You look like your mother was a moose.
Actually, bugger that, I won't merely insult them I'll insult their mother too. Just to prove what a thoughtful person I am

I like Ben I think he is a solid second rower who is improving his game. He still struggles with his lateral movement at times and that is why he can be defensive liability in the centers. I don't see him as being in the shadows of his brothers. He deserves a spot in out our 30. I see him as a Hudson Young style of player and I don't think he has reached his ceiling yet. I don't believe the ESL would help his game. Next year, provided the coach gives the young players who have been shining in the NRL Cup in 2025 a proper opportunity, there will be some good competition for forward spots. Big O is the first back rower picked and Navale is my first choice at lock. That leaves a second row spot up for grabs and the bench spots in the 17. Jake is in my 17 but as a front rower playing about 20 minutes each half. Ben is a keeper in my view.
