Ben Barba

Something I read on another site:

"I was talking to a mate of mine today, he is mates with Trent Barrett, and told me Manly are in talks with Ben Barba... Every other time he tells me his intel, we get who he says. For instance, he told me 6 months before we signed Marty Taupau that we signed him before it came out in the media. He also told me we signed Joel Thompson two weeks before it came out in the media. If this news is right and we sign Barba will fix our 5/8 problem".

Considering the well publicized "man crush", between DCE and Barba, perhaps there is some weight to this. While Rothfield has said he called St Helens, to ask if Barba would be released, which they denied, Barba has stated he would like another crack in the NRL.

http://nrlportal.com/chat/threads/cherry-evans-wants-to-see-barba-back-in-nrl.82/

Barrett has been in talks with a Superleague player, says Peters, and Albert Kelly/Barba/Parcel were all mentioned. Peters said it wasn't Parcell being considered.

Barba is the same age as DCE, and apparently in good form, but I'm wondering where we would play him? Do we really need him? Can DCE turn him into a 5/8th?

I know I’ll be crucified but if I were the coach I’d play him at fullback and Turbo in the Centre’s with Walker. Please forgive me but I mitigate that with this statement- the T’s will be the greatest brothers that ever played NRL!

Turbo straight to 5/8

There is no doubt Tommy Turbo will be a legendary fullback. Personally, I don't think he has the hands for 5/8 just yet, he still drops a bit of ball, but will get better in this department with more age and experience. If he was to move anywhere, I'd prefer him in the centres, running off the halves, he could prove to be a phenominal centre if they have plans to develope him there.

NRL Integrity Unit, which is investigating the alleged assault as well as the possibility the incident was covered up by the club.

“I have the bigggggest bruised jaw ever," Ms Currie said after the friend asked when “he" did this.

“This morning. I can’t even remember how it all came about. I was lying dwn (sic) goin (sic) back to sleep."

The friend asked where "he" was, with Ms Currie stBelmore

He does have a history with the northern beaches. As far as I recall, the rehab he was supposed to go to after he beat the crap out of his girlfriend but didn’t bother attending because Toddy was covering it all up was located here.

Either way no thanks. I can handle a bit of stink on a player if they’re remorseful for where the stench originated from but he reeks and is a total ****wit.

We stop chasing one drop kick in Carney to chase another in Barba. He has had enough chances too so i’m hoping this is BS.

Croker or Hastings for this season and find a way to make it work.

With our mate Toddy doing a number on us our only option is to become “ dickhead central”.

Well at least we didn’t sign that loser Lodge!

I reckon we should wait, give young Lachie Croker a chance, hopefully he proves he's up to the task.

We should know within the first 6-8 rounds whether the kid's got the goods and can improve into a top notch 5/8; if he bombs and we lose all those games, which I don't think we will, then we chase an established guy like Ben Barba who could still get us into the 8.

I seem to recall a few years back being worried about a pair of young blokes leading our attack from the halves. That turned out alright, I think it was a win in the last game of the season.

Tom has already showed he is an exceptional centre. But he adds too much as a ball playing fullback. He's big but I'm concerned about his longevity. Seems the smaller springer fullbacks last longer in the modern game.

Croker can play. Don't worry about that. He will surprise if injuries don't hamper him. Barbra isn't a natural fit at 6 for DCE. I can't remember a season where we had so much depth but still need a 6 to stand up.

Hang on I can. Was it 2009 Chris Bailey?

Are you talking about Orford and Lyon?

Well, not to crucify you, but watch how GI goes at Souffs. Taking a certified spine player out to replace it with someone from the epic bender crew may not be all that smart?
