The NRL said today that Ben Barba's 12-match ban will not begin until he has completed any overseas sporting commitments.

CEO Todd Greenberg said the NRL believed a suspended player should serve time out from playing – anywhere.

"Ben does not have a registered contract with the NRL so he is free to make a decision to play in a different code with a new club," Mr Greenberg said.

"But the NRL will not consider any contract for registration until he has completed his contract with other sports.

"The match suspension he needs to serve will only begin after he has completed his playing commitments elsewhere."

I used to kinda like Barba because he played the game with so much confidence and freedom but I hope he never ****ing plays another game of NRL ever again for making such daft comments...

To play the "family" card concerning his pending registration in the NRL is ludicrous given he was sniffing blow...I mean that stuff ain't cheap and it's hardly the behaviour of a responsible family man. If he needs the money maybe he should lay off the powder and pokies.

I also think it's rich to expect to simply holiday in France, earn thousands and then waddle back home when the ban is lifted. How entitled does this moron think he is?
