SEA Eagles legend Steve Menzies may be 43, but he can still show footballers half his age how it is done.

“Beaver” made a comeback to the field on Saturday for the Warringah fifth grade rugby side in their game against Northern Suburbs on the back field at Pittwater Rugby Park.

The game had special meaning for Menzies, who finally fulfilled his long held ambition of playing alongside his brother Josh Gerrard, the Rats stalwart and club captain.

”It was something we have literally been planning for years,” Gerrard said.

I was so surprised to not see the head gear! I often hope to see players ditch their head gear at some stage in their careers in league (beaver excluded), but if there was ever a time I would expect or accept anyone chucking one on it would be in those yawnion rucks.

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but from 1966 to 1977 the local milk man was a Stephen Gerrard.

I think he married mo'onia gerrard.

Fair dinkum those 5th graders must have been scared coming up against beaver, and also Harris to some extent. Amateurs against fit former pros.
