Bateman... no, no, no, no, no

Guess that if a deal can not be worked out getting Bateman to Manly , going to have to rely on Burbo and to a lesser extent Waddell being able to show something worthwhile on an edge .
Got those couple of young backrowers from the Cows and Dogs ? to maybe help matters but no guarantees
Pleased that Burbo continued to show a bit of improvement this season , probably not much more Waddell can offer there but just that additional boost that a player of Batemen 's caliber could more then likely provide and would still seem to have some appeal .
Sure that Manly would not be prepared to budge that much on a manageable cap arrangement deal and nor should they in the present circumstances .
Unquestionably the 13 and 9 conundrum should still present the main concern but again , could only help getting a quality type player [ if Bateman is capable of performing consistently well again ] on an edge .
Lawton really put in well for the majority of the time he played on an edge but an in form Bateman on a favorable deal should add even more , that critical level of competitiveness

I must say Bateman he did play well for the Poms the other day. For Samoa, I thought our new recruit Jaz Tavaga also played very well. Great defence, good passing and always looked to run from dummy half. Could be an astute buy.
Did't see the match but that indication with Tavaga going reasonably well as a 9 sounds encouraging
Still think that Simpkin would have to ideally get a harder edge to his general play , particularly in defence but showed he is more then capable of performing O K there. in general
Tough season for Froggy , got battered from pillar to post at times apart from his long layoff with injury ,
Still some gallant efforts though and not out of contention for another crack as the 9 but can 't see him playing his previous big minutes if he does feature regularly again

Pretty sure Jamie Lyon walked out on a team.
Maybe it all depends on the circumstances.
to be fair killer was young and just about to reach his Prime. and who wouldn't want out of parramatta? Bateman has passed that point and is on the way down. does seem a destabilising player that we just don't need.

Bateman's skill, agility, aggression, high work rate, and experience is exactly what we need in our backrow stocks. A current international with great defence and x-factor with ball in hand, this is a no-brainer. Obviously with most talents, the coach will need to get him focused and in-line with club and culture (tbh, this seems to be one of Seibold's strengths as a manager). Imo this signing would elevate us another notch

One thing the old Ymop"s could do was a sneaky little innocent eye gouge- just to let oppositions know they weren't scared. Hope batman has that ability still
PS
Ymop is rechtub klat for pomy

Poor old Wests wasting $800,000 a season on this bloke.
We'd never waste that kind of money on a player . . .

Ouch @:D

Does anyone have a definitive list of Moses clients at Manly.....and for that matter other agents clients here as I cant tell if we are jumping at shadows or there is a legitimate worry.

Woods and Condon were but they're gone.

Anyone know?

I started trying to make a list, think it was a year or two ago but I forget what the thread was called

Agreed that Bateman is past his best but when you consider our only other signing for next year is Tevaga (also past his best) then I’m not against us taking a punt on something different. For less than half of his 800k deal is good business and it may become even less with how much talk there is of the Tigers wanting to get rid of him, wouldn’t surprise me if we are trying to get them to chip in even more and that’s why it’s not a done deal yet.

Besides that we all know we need another edge forward with Lawton gone. Burbo had first crack there last year and didn’t deliver so doing the same thing again wouldn’t make sense. I’m even more intrigued by the possibility of Haumole moving to the left and playing outside of a half that actually takes it to the line but I won’t get too ahead of myself yet.

That's what you picked up from that game? I saw him as a spot defender, always struggling to get back on side, flopping on numerous tackles, struggling with the pace, speed and run of the game. I actually thought he looked really badly out of shape (thought he enjoyed a few bevvies after leaving the Warriors). Anyways, each to their own.

Only made 60 metres too, hardly impressive.

Even Burbo averaged more than that this year...
