Clarkson is a man who developed a new strategy of how to play the game, recruited the types of players he needed to make that strategy work, got the players to buy into it, and created ongoing success. A commentator observed during a game a couple of weeks ago that of the last 20 games in which the Hawks have played and that have been decided by less than a goal, the Hawks have won 18. Clarkson and Barrett - hard to believe their the same species.

Yep, spot on Cioran. It was the reason for my tongue in cheek suggestion that Clarko should be OUR next coach. Having said that, I do believe that it's also a synergistic relationship with the club off the field too. As brilliant as Clarko is, the off field support just helps nurture and accentuate the success (as it should).

Do you think that Craig Bellamy, Wayne Bennett or Trent Robinson would operate under those standards though ? That's the key here, not if they are legitimate complaints or how trivial they are, it's the fact we lag behind in simple areas that is the issue

Totally agree - These things should however been sorted out behind closed doors long ago....the professionalism at the front office is poor, as shown by how the fans are left out in the dark, so not overly surprised.
Not getting how Barrett having to bring in a desk or wipes down a bench press effects the poor performances of the team.
As for Bellamy and top ranked coaches....most coaches would have their own issues at their respective clubs, that would not be used as an excuse with results and would be never made public.

Yeah, I think they probably would, or would have when they were rookie coaches looking for an opportunity. And I think they would have won more games than Barrett has managed over his three-year tenure. I get it - we don't have as much money as other clubs, and our facilities are substandard. But really, if he was focussing on those problems instead of focussing on getting the players to win games of footy, we were always going to be in trouble.

Barrett has been all about Barrett for 18 mths, yet everyone else is now to blame. Had talks w 2 clubs last yr re their coaching role & nearly left, then demanded & got an extension, then spent 2 mths fostering a likely new role elsewhere this yr, then resigned. Give me a break.
