Barrett on Big Sports Breakfast tomorrow

I assume I missed it, any interesting tidbits?

He was on there for quite a while, certainly worth a listen via @HappilyManly link!

Lachlan Croker certainly seems like the front runner for the 6 position.

Walker is ahead of schedule, still aiming for Rd 4 with anything earlier a bonus.

Jake is back in full contact work and will play in one of the trials.

4 players currently working on goal kicking being Api, DCE, Kelly and M. Wright.

Tom Wright has been impressive, TB just wants to see him injury free.

Someone asked about Cade Cust, TB mentioned he’s a tough young kid who will also get a crack in the trials.

Plenty more as well!

Barrett mentioned Wright first when discussing the goal kicking, and said he was kicking really well.
With Walker not back till rd4 it seems Wright may play centre and be the goal kicker. However, I would prefer Kelly to be the kicker especially as Wright is only a fill in, and tbh his kicking and speed is not good enough at NRL level. I don't think Api or DCE are up to it either as a first string goalkicker.
For those wondering what I am basing Kelly's abilities on, check out the you tube video when he kicked 6/6 for NSW in Origin at under 20s level. He kicked them from the sideline from both sides of the field.

There is also a video of Walker kicking 7/7.
I found it strange he mentioned M.Wright, think he will be in for Walks until fit?

Not necessarily ... I would be more surprised if M. Wright wasn't working with the kicking coach. All probable kickers would work with him.

I can understand Baz not putting additional pressure on Kelly last year ... but if he goes OK he might get thrown the ball this year.

Thanks for the summary feathered friend . I like a proactive coach that is willing to give every one a go in the trails and rewards players on form and not players resting on their laurels .

No mention of the salary cap debacle or Hodkinson ?

No mention of the salary cap debacle or Hodkinson ?

Yes, he said while he is confident we havent done anything intentionally wrong, he has factored in the possibilty of a salary cap reduction, so, Hodko he would like to have for depth at least, but his hands are tied befor they get the official judgement. He also sounds pretty keen, and impressed by Tom Wright, and said he might throw him in the first trial, probably centres, although he did mention he could be a long term Fullback or 5/8.

Based on that interview you'd have to say Croker in the 6 and Matty Wright in the centres until Walker is back. Fair assumption based on when asked who is our goal kicker and his name popped first into Bazs head.

He also commented that Api is an 80min dummy half so that elludes to possibly doing away with Brown?...

4 forward bench here we come?!?! And Siro to half, Croker to 9 if we lost Api mid game.

C'mon round 1.

Problem with a 4 forward bench is that whilst your (4) 2nd string forwards are getting more game time ... your (4) 1st string forwards are sitting on the bench.

It is why I didn't like our 3 prop bench last year.

Unless we have become the Manly Wallabies mate, I can't see any reference to him being our goal kicking coach. Mind you, my eyesight is diminishing, so apologies in advance if I overlooked it.

Barrett quoted him as owe kicking coach, saying he has a session twice a week.

Baz refers to him in the podcast, as working with Manly twice a week
