Ballin to finally get a run this week?

A dummy halfs main jobs in attack are to get the ball out quickly and cleanly and to make a metre eating scoot when the room is there, Monaghan doesn't do either of these too well.

He seems to check to see if he can create anything before passing it along and his passes (especially to the right) are usually below par for a hooker, it might only be a fraction of a second but it affects the rest of the play, the other parts of his game are pretty good.

Changes likely to be made by Des..

Willow to 5/8...Burns at half... Monas hooker.. Lyon centre Moorewood on the bench

Surely even Des wouldn't go into a game especially one against the tiggers with a bench of 4 props - Rose, Bryant, Hall and Morewood. !pray: !pray: !pray:

Promoting Ballin will cause less disruption to the rest of the team.

Dont even whisper such things Tooks. :naughty: Ill have nightmares tonight.

youd hope so!... In all seriousness, wasnt the coach that put Stephenson on the bench? I got a big feeling Willow would be 5/8 if Orford doesnt make it... however i think Orford will come through ok.

I've never quibbled with his defence and his running game is reasonable.

But his passing has always been ****

The club knows his apssing game is poor, Dennis Moore told me perosnally 2 years ago that he can only pass to one side and that is a major issue with his game especially when he was a half back. Other team knew that as well and his game was easily defend against.

The same issue still applies when he is dummy half

If they've known this for two years why has he not been dropped or at least improved?????????????????????????????????????

Im just waiting for Des to Name Jeff Robson on the bench :wall: :wall:

Now that is an option that i hadn't thought of.

He must have pictures of Max.

What about Bani in on the wing, with Hicks in centres, leaving Lyon @ 5/8, then Burns to utility on bench?

I re-watched the game last night against The Raiders with the Monaghan issue in mind. I haven't noticed it before TBH, but I'm now leaning toward understanding where you guys are coming from. Lincoln Withers had the same problem too with his passing right etc!!!
Ballin being a specialist Hooker's ability to pass to either side of the ruck would be his bread and butter right?

Monas isn't all that bad. His 60 metre kicks are never complained about. He had a bad game on Saturday but thats the first time i've seen him play like that a hooker in a long time.

have to agree with flip on both of his posts,

i really hope to see ballin get a run but i dont expect him to set the world on fire in his first game, he will be solidand unlike last year with dunley we wont see our defence fall apart when monas departs

I wonder how much of his lollipop passes can be put down to the conditions on the night

Bullet passes in such wet conditions would have been hard to take cleanly

I don't understand where everyone is coming from with Monaghan. While I wouldn't rate him in the top 5 Hookers in the game like Byso, I certainly rate him. He keeps the structure completely tight, he defends like a demon when not directly on the try line, and his attack is improving slightly every week.
He doesn't run from dummy half and is not quick enough off the mark. Check out the top hookers - PJ Marsh, Smith, Farrah, Buderus, etc - they dash out of dummy half and make quick metres up the middle, putting the defence on the defensive, and paving the way for a quick play the ball with momentum. Monas doesn't do that.
