Yep if fit he's in the 17 for sure. Maybe a final fitness test later in the week? (or maybe Seibold is just procrastinating, such a tough decision)wow Koula named as 18th man. Well it’s a way to keep us guessing til game day.

It is a tough decision. However I think Seibs has chosen very well keeping the 13 intact and that is my run-on team for the preliminary / GF. However his window for experimentation is rapidly closing and I think that is all around Tolu Koula. This kid got to be in out team somewhere but not sure that is in the centre position. I would be very interested to see how he goes on the bench as both backline cover and a middle support / runner. I think could be a real joker in the pack and a major point of difference. We know what we get with Tolu in the centres and I am not sure that is a match winner against the top sides. This kid could be dynamite in and around the middle against tiring forwards. Only one way to find out and this week is the perfect time.Yep if fit he's in the 17 for sure. Maybe a final fitness test later in the week? One way to lose one of the best Manly backline talents [ Koula ] in recent seasons would be to put him in a totally unnatural and unsuited position or role for him .
Then still have Talau and as good a role he has managed this season overall , hardly going to instill that much concern for opposition's backlines as opposed to Koula ,
Hasn 't been at his best consistently this season naturally with the occasional injury concern but when relatively injury free , some fairly classy efforts and up to his usual good standardsYep has to be in our best 13.
You make a lot of sense Al. But I don't think the existing team status quo will win us a GF against either Penrith or Melbourne. Probably will against the likes of dogs, Rooster and Sharks....but not sure they will be our opponents in a GF scenario. Tolu has been average in the centres all season so unless you think we are about to change that, dumb persisting with that option. One way to lose one of the best Manly backline talents [ Koula ] in recent seasons would be to put him in a totally unnatural and unsuited position or role for him .

But then have already got the better of the Storm and Panthers [ once of course ]and not that far off the pace in the 2 nd game ].You make a lot of sense Al. Sounds like Koula will start. Maybe Hoppa to bench and Burbo dropping out.
And still Hoppa looks so skinny. The fact he dents the line when he runs and doesn't get manhandled speaks volumes for his talent and balance and footy IQ, as much as it does for his natural strength.View attachment 27852
From this image it appears that they've at least tested:
3. Koula
5. Hoppa
I think Talau's versatility across the backline, and that he went alright at halfback earlier this year, gets him the bench spot over Burbo.
He would make the quickest back rower in history indeedKoula to backrow - quickest forward in NRL history
I think Seibold will agree with you feathered friendWhat ever way it goes, everyone's got a different argument or take on who should or shouldn't play. Talau's been our best back up until Turbo came back, he doesn't deserve to be out of the side, but Koula's back now and by the look of him he's set for a big one if picked. And you can't leave out Lehi, a try and try assist last game, he makes the impossible happen every game. Think I'll leave it up to Sieb's on this one, good luck.
Bit harsh!not a koula fan at all. theres no place for him in the backline now. turbo fulback, saab and lehi wing, garrick, talau centre.. where can koula go. maybe as a reserve i recommend. never rated him. Tuitopolutu is better than koula.
Garbage take. Tuipulotu was slow and a poor defender for us, he is doing much better at the Dragons but give me Koula every day of the week, too much natural talent and speed not to be in the sidenot a koula fan at all. theres no place for him in the backline now. turbo fulback, saab and lehi wing, garrick, talau centre.. where can koula go. maybe as a reserve i recommend. never rated him. At least Garrick has a back up career as an actor.Hopefully Garrick's defensive reads will continue to improve. I like the approach of its yours to earn and then to keep it. We need depth with only one injury in the backs then Koula is our solution. Since he is coming back from injury it makes sense bringing him back on the bench.
