There was an interview with Mal this morning on MMM. They asked him re Semi and how it would be good for NSW and he pointed out that this did not mean he would qualify to play - apparently there are 5 criteria that players must meet including being in the state since 13????
All you say is true, but realistically I didn't expect anything different from Mal. Out of touch. So Mal Meninga's first team as Australian coach see's the Kangaroo's mostly full of Queenslanders (12 of the 17).
Even allowing for the fact that Brisbane and NQ are the current competition leaders, did we expect anything less?
Radradra.....should not be in the team. Way to grow the international game ARL. Its all really about Origin isn't it, 3 exhibition games per year that make money is obviously the real goal.
1nglis is woefully out of form at fullback, why pick him in the centres? Same with Dugan. How two fullbacks can get selected over in form actual centres like Jennings or even Josh Morris is mind boggling.
The fact that Boyd has been picked at fullback over Tedesco is a Qld bias IMO (Boyd should be on the wing). And the fact that Blake Ferguson has been picked is nothing more than a token NSW representative to boost the states numbers, otherwise on form Corey Oates would be in the side. Unfortunately for NSW it pretty much confirms that Ferguson, unless injured, will be a walk up start for the Blues this year.
IMO there are a few players in this team who have been selected on reputation rather than form. Kinda sounds like NSW over the past few years.
But apparently no criteria for playing for Australia other than just happening to be here, after all it's only the national team !!There was an interview with Mal this morning on MMM.
