I just heard on the radio up here that Manly are going to fight against the $100k fine but are not going to appeal Brett's suspension

The basis for the $100,000 fine is Gallop's claim that "the measures simply were not sufficient to stop drinking getting out of hand".

Take the significance of that statement in.

These are adults consuming alcohol who have had extensive training in the dangers of alcohol and how to manage it.

Meanwhile David Gallop's controlled NRL reap millions of dollars (with teams like Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos) actively promoting the use of alcohol, including by teenagers.  Exactly what measures, David Gallop, are YOU taking to ensure drinking of alcohol, including by teenagers, in the wider community does not get out of hand??????

If Manly should be fined $100,000, how many $100,000,000 should the NRL be fined, by its own standards?

The fine will have no grounds in law

I would have suggested that we just dont pay it.

But when the administrating body holds the grant purse strings it makes it  difficult.
