Any chance Steve Smith supports Manly??

SS's crime will be forgotten, and he will make a come back. But never again as captain. Ppl have short memories. A season away from the game, big runs in the other comps will ensue after he's had a rest, that he obviously needs.
Eventually he will be partially forgiven. Just enough to allow him to have a contract with ACB, on more modest terms than he is now.
By then, AU will have some new shining star batsman, that is all the rage and SS can/will keep a low profile.

We won the first test, so 1-2 with a test to go.

True, but in case there was any confusion with my bad typing... I meant we had just lost three wickets for zero runs.

🙂

Also faf has been busted twice for ball tampering (and is playing in this series) and philander has been busted once and is also playing.

So SA, hold your moral outrage and you should be nice to Aust, they will probably take in your farmers that you can't protect.

I copped a spray from a Pom (that’s ok, not unexpected). I said, no sugar coating it, it is wrong, unacceptable and deeply embarrassing. I said personally I’d piss him off for 6 months, but at the same time they would need to be consistent with the penalties handed out to Atherton and Du Plessis. My parting shot was, speaking of deeply embarrassing, how is the tour of NZ going? That shut him up.

As I read elsewhere...

If we were so worried about getting the ball to swing, all we had to do was pick Chad Sayers.
Simples.

Warner and Smith are arrogant and ignorant .This has been brewing for a while and everyone is sick of their behaviour.Hopefully they both go and earn their millions playing 20 20 and the integrity of the baggie green is not further damaged by these idiots .

TBH I think this whole thing is WAY over the top. Particularly when other players/captains have been caught ball tampering, some more than once, and it hardly rated a mention. Faf Du Plessis would have to be one of the biggest hypocrites in sport. The way he has come out like a farking choir boy in condemning Smith and co is disgraceful. What a nerve this arrogant pr1ck has after twice being found guilty of the same thing. I would love to see his side get smashed in the last test. When you consider the ICC which is the governing body, felt that a one test ban for Smith and Warner and a loss of their match payment was a sufficient penalty, why has everyone else felt the need to absolutely decimate their careers and reputation (possibly beyond repair) to me it’s a total knee jerk reaction, and another example of the tall poppy syndrome raring it’s ugly head yet again.

Pre- meditated ball tampering with a piece of sandpaper, with the vice captain enticing a junior member of the team to do the dirty work, whilst the Captain looks on.

Sorry but this is nothing to do with tall poppy, and all to do with the spirit of the game.

That being said, the ban from State cricket and also now the IPL is way over the top.

Agree Kevin, also Tendulkar putting in his two bobs worth after tampering with the ball himself and lying in the Andrew Symonds saga.

Smith, Warner and Bancroft wont play for Australia agin in my opinion and shouldn't. Disgustung how it was planned. Shouldn't be seen again.

After seeing Bancrofts presser, he will play for Aust again. He handled himself very well.

Warner is on the outer, T20 cowboy for him now.
I'm not sure on Smith, presser soon. He could retire or fight on.

As an x opening bowler and some report's that they didnt know anything about what was going on is complete bull****. Alot more will come out of this before its over . As for the suspensions i think they got off lightly . They knew what the consequences would have been when they took the field, but still went on with it .

Umm, going off history, the consequences were minimal , 1 test max, for Bancroft only.
The bans are way over the top, historically speaking.

What happened in South Africa can never be condoned but you would be a person hard of heart if you can’t see that Steve Smith is a man of true substance after that press conference. He has learned the most severe lesson but I believe he has begun the road to redemption in the most powerful way.

Why are these Cricketers being traumatized on live TV when ball tampering is as old as the game :wondering:

So much for mental health concerns. 😡

The did the deed, let them serve their penalty but it's just a bloody game @
Heartbreaking to watch - especially because I'm pretty sure that Warner was responsible and too hard to handle for Smith.
From twitter:
Ball tampering penalties
Atherton (94) - fined $3,700
Younis (00) - 1 match
Dravid (04) - 50% match fee
Afridi (10) - 2 T20 matches
Du Plessis (13) - 50% match fee
Du Plessis (16) - 100% match fee

FMD that was hard to watch , and regardless of the glamour the dollars and the lifestyle at the end of the day he’s broken hearted because he let his Dad down most of all.

Hope a lot of people are looking after him and Bancroft because they are going to need it.

Warner on the other hand , well that could be a very different story.

I shed a tear when his old man grasped Steve on the shoulder halfway through.

And don’t you laugh that the current Safers Captain ( see above ) is one of the most vocal in bringing them down.
