Annesley's weakly "Why this happened" report - 2024 edition.

The refereeing is getting worse both on the field and in the bunker and the NRL are in denial mode. Fix it please! I’m tired of the boring and insulting excuses that keep on being dished up. It’s no longer the odd mistake it’s a mess.

Didn't a player also touch a kickers leg this week and put on report?.... what happeend about that, I didnt' hear?
That's right Frogz I mentioned it in another thread. Api took out Hughes's legs after a kick. Here's the result and are you surprised!?
"Wests Tigers captain Api Koroisau (Dangerous Contact) and prop David Klemmer (High Tackle) have both entered early guilty pleas to their charges and been fined." Aloiai's was way softer yet he gets 2 weeks. Manly should now use Api's as an example should it happen again.

In this week's installment of 'Go to hell Manly, every decision against you is correct'

Total incompetent and nrl mouthpiece annesley the blind...

Garrick's hia - correct
No sin bin for saab's high hit - correct

(GA - I'm happy with the bunker. Arm slipped up off the ball. Even though the mrc is giving Jennings 2 weeks, even though player safety is paramount, and even though there's a rule for 'reckless' contact to the head).

No mention of the non stopping of the clock (afaik)

I try to be a bit balanced ~cough~ but I swear GA is as effective as an aging boomer faced with the latest tech.

Pitchforks at noon!

Sorry, but suggesting the bunker got the Jennings / Saab incident correct is a fuking joke and Annesley loses any amount of credibility he had left (which is fuk all).

It was contact to the head. It's a sin bin any day of the week. Players go to the bin for far less.

Annesley is a piece of $hit. The sooner the NRL gets rid of him, the better.

Absolutely was contact to the head, and was direct and forceful. I couldn't believe some commentators saying well the arm slipped up off the ball...but how about Jennings shoulder? that hit Saab directly in the head. And not much force?? the guy was sprinting at full speed!!

Not surprised by Annesley, but those commentators dropped the ball. If it had been Tedesco or Cleary or some other media darling got hit like that, would they say 'not much force'? It's a poor reflection when Buzz Rothfield looks like the voice of reason by comparison

No ones head snaps back like Saab’s did through an arm slipping up off the ball. It snapped back due to a direct hit to the head. I am no expert but it was clear as day, how come the ‘experts’ can’t see the obvious

Apparently Anal cyst has a medical degree and a degree in bio mechanics. What a twat. Just admit the nrl are based cheats

Yep, it may have slipped up off the ball BUT going in like he did, Jennings margin for error was small so it could be deemed careless or reckless.

One game that's on report and another he goes to the bin.

The thing is with the current ruling that only a sin bin can activate the 18th man, Jennings getting put on report means bugger all really.

Surely there needs to be some discussion around that this.
Maybe in a situation like this with Jennings on report and Saab off for a mandatory HIA, if he doesn't come back then give Jennings 10 in the bin so at least the affected team gets some advantage.

A Superleague leftover and Sutherland Shire local (explains it all), who has long overstayed his welcome.

He really doesn’t know which lever to pull on which excuse. Saying the bunker doesn’t know if injury has occurred or HIA will be passed or failed is the same for all garden variety head contact, - there are some that are innocuous and ones that are obviously bad. So all the ones that are careless and impactful need to be all binned or none binned. These clowns have introduced way too much subjectivity to the game. It’s a jackpot every week and the inconsistency is a huge contributor to who gets the win.

They have made this rod for their back and the game is hobbled because of it

Annesley uses a different page of this book each week:

Really hard for Annesley to justify his take on that Jennigs high shot .
More you look at it , probably one of the more careless and vicious high shots for a while now .
Just hope that it does not shake up Jason "s confidence too much as would have affected anyone with that type of contact
.Should be able to recover well and with the bye helping matters .
Just wrong all round and so unfair and disadvantageous for Manly of course on the night

Annusly's justification was that The Bunker didn't have time to evaluate the seriousness of Saab's injury, but there have been plenty of sin bins this season when the tackled player is not hurt and plays on.

Olam send off just a knee jerk reaction form the NRL, after failing to bin Jennings last week. Annesley should be sacked immediately, as he changes the rulings every week.
Funny how it's only certain teams that wear the repercussions of the privileged few getting away with murder. Scumbag Jennings and the cheats get away with it while a team like the Tigers cop it in the ar*e. What a farce this sport has become.

yep, case in point JWH, how many times has he been let off, but he tested the scam one to often and got 4 weeks after rolling the dice and losing.

It didn't look good tho, borderline sin bin/send off, hard to make a definitive call on it. Depends on who's in the bunker I guess, as they always have the final say on these incidents.

You're right it didn't look good, but I thought a sin bin was coming and warranted. Just goes to show (still) the regular inconsistencies that favour some and ruin others.
