The Who
Journey Man
It's weird; an anomaly; and if somebody can give me a rational explanation for it I'd be appreciative:
Why does Manly score way more points when running south?
Gus touched on it when we played Doesn'tmatta, joking that Brookie Oval must slope south. Yet there is truth in the lopsided scoring pattern.
I've always known that Manly team prefer to play the second half of matches running south. I'd been led to believe it was because the players enjoyed running towards noisy fans in the southern stand. Last night we must have lost the toss, and Ricky's Raiders must have been aware of the anomaly.
You'd think that now with a northern stand the stats would even out . . but we still score far more points running south. Unfortunately, so do our opponents.
I don't have the exact figures but it's easy to recall the matches we've played at Brooke this season to be reminded how true this ano-Manly is.
