An Opportunity?

Still such a long way to go in the season. We just need to get some basics right like hold onto the ball and don't give away stupid penalties.

We don't have depth but we do have choices
If we can take a chance and persevere with a park footballer like Croker then we can take a chance with this backline for this year until our next shopping spree
All we need is a proactive coach
1Tom Wright -Pace and unpredictable in open space
2Parker - safe and strong
3Walker - you cant go wrong
4Kelly - give him more time to shine
5Moses- we know what he is capable of
6Tom Turbo - will have the opposition in 4 minds
7DCE - one of my favourites
if we get lapped this weekend again then TB needs to add a little spice to the mix ,Im not sure about Tom at 5/8 as I think he needs to able to have a bit of freedom to chime in when its on ,but as Benji has proved and Ponga has proved if your old enough or young enough doesn't matter as long as you are good enough. And you wont know this till some of these guys like T Wright etc get blooded ,they s/b blooded anyway IMO

I see your point mate but Turbo has shown us that he can create opportunities for his outside backs . Tom can run and he also has vision. Tom will have the opposition in 2 minds unlike our current predictable park no 6 . Our 6 issue is much more serious than on centre issues .
Fair enough . It would be great to see how he goes in either position ,so it sets us up nicely for next year. If we snare coote a bonus .

We need a 6 that can do his share of the kicking in general play and take on the line. I would support Tommy Turbo as a short term solution there. I would love to see the coach promote Tom Wright and give him a crack at five eighth!!

We have to get a decent kicking game. We got smashed by one last week. We were legless before we got the ball.

If only we had a decent natural kicker of the football.

Love it Muzz! It’s this type of outside the square thinking we need!

Since the 2018 season is over let’s plan for 2019 and give some juniors a go! Kelly to Uate’s wing, Loko to centre, Parker on the other wing, TWright to 6, Paseka and Gosiewski in. I like it

Suli?

Love the idea behind the post, Muzz. I was in the midst of drafting a post with a somewhat congruent thrust yesterday, but thought better of it when the sh*t storm hit.

If we were to accept that we are indeed f**ked for 5/8 this year and thus limited in our ability to be as effective in traditional structures as other teams, it does raise some interesting thoughts as to how we can think outside the box and explore other possibilities.

Whether we are able to come up with some left field approach (ala; Walker Bros) or not, we could at least bring up more lower grade players with potential, and let them get some experience (as BOZO alluded to in his post).

The main reason their kicking game was so good was the fact that our pressure on their kickers was so poor, switch this to DCE, our only kicker, and he gets swamped almost every time, leading to an ordinary kick or a pass of to someone else who puts in an ordinary kick.
I know it was suggested that TT would be doing some of the kicking duties this season but its too much pressure for such a long kid who also needs to worry about his job at fullback.

I actually think Cherry is doing well with his kicking game. Yes, it's an issue that he's our only option with Croker doing so little with the boot but our biggest problem is discipline. No kicking game can shine if you never get to tackle 4/5 to make the kick.

Good options mate ....I was about to add Moses....but there you go Bozo.....there he is in the 5....I quite like the look of that backline.

Drastic times calls for drastic measures . Fart arsing around with something that does not work is a complete waste of time as far as I am concerned .
A proactive approach is far more affective than a reactive approach .
I cant help my self maxta , here comes another meme 😛
