Aloiai Gone

Is that the same as cutting someone’s grass?

Look, I’m on the fence about him as a player for us—both in terms of what he brings on and off the park. But there's no denying what a brutal sport these guys play for our entertainment.

Sure, he might get a payout, but he’ll be dealing with shoulder issues for the rest of his life. That kind of injury could easily limit his ability to get work after footy, and I just hope he’s managed to set himself up for life beyond the game.

I really do hope he finds a fulfilling path post-footy and doesn’t end up paying too high a price, physically or mentally, for the sacrifices he made for our enjoyment.
Well said.

He is probably trying to get a gig somewhere but I imagine he will retire shortly
I'll always remember Marty's little speech after his 2nd week of training at the Broncos.
"I've learnt so much since I've been here"... under Kevvie Walters, really !!. So he didn't learn anything while he was at Manly...lol.

Hopefully Bully has definitely committed or agreed to terms for another few seasons and Tent can make a full recovery by season "s end
Then leaving most probable Jake and T K O to carry on into next season as other likely middle options ,
Sipley may well stay on but with status quo there , hardly going to enhance the middle stocks that much .
Think that James would have been promoted much closer to ist grade contention by now if considered up to it , Sykes always has seemed to have some potential but also just short of the next required level .
Taking into account that Alioia was essentially bought in to try and compensate [ or largely ] for A F B leaving some seasons ago , sure that a priority would be to definitely try to find another formidable prop somehow .
Disappointing that May was not quite hitting his straps some time ago at Blacktown but that "s the way it goes sometimes unfortunately
To be honest, Tent has been a disappointment, he's bigger than most of the other props, but he's too timid and injury prone, don't know how a man of his size can fully recover from a ruptured Achilles Tendon

Does anyone have an updated sense of whether its likely the club can "medically retire" Aloiai

It sounds like he has played his last NRL game but he obviously had existing shoulder issues which can cause a denial of a retirement request.

The whole thing is as clear as mud to me, but we need that salary slot filled!

Paseka has been Manly "s best yardage prop , probably for the best part of 4 seasons now
Think that he is seriously being missed since he has been out ,
Can only refer again to the fact that he was in the mix for S O O selection last season , not as a starting prop but in the N S W general squad
No authority on Achillies but with the right treatment and proper healing , chances should be not unreasonable for a full recovery , Well for Manly 's sake ,certainly hope so

Not being unkind but Aloiai has experienced so many different injuries in his time with Manly , could well be a case for a genuine medical retirement if this shoulder injury is his main and recent concern now .
Surely has to be some provision or interpretation when a player has no way of seeing out their contract because of injury and especially in the recent category , that the medically retired option should or can be applied

It shouldn’t be used to Rort the system for an older player BUT any player who can no longer get on the field due to injuries incurred because of the game should be able to be paid out and retired and not affect the clubs cap.
