AFB and Kapow - The Key to Victory

maxta

First Grader
The game played out in such a way last week, both these big blokes were shot 20 minutes in.
This week they need to step up....
Kapow claimed winning the 2018 Premiership and its been a downward slide since that moment....he started the season with a bang, but needs to get it back now.
AFB has turned into a Top shelf Power prop and his input has gone from 10 minutes a half, to over 20 minutes a half without losing impact.
Have noticed a habit of him giving away silly penalties in recent times (yes REAL penalties) and often key points of the game.
We all want improvement in game play from the hooker and halves, but the fact is the time and space created starts right here in the middle....the entire team needs to lift and if these 2 fire from the kickoff....the rest will fall into place.

Our discipline will determine if we win this game. My fear is that we will suffer a barrage of penalties against us if we do not respect the ball. This is a game that could be one-sided either way, we must start well, keep the ball, get through our sets and restrict their opportunities in our half, their crowd will be baying for penalties and the officials won't hesitate to do that if we are indisciplined. The ball is in our court on Sunday, this team is capable!! just ask the whingers after round 2 of this season!!

Marty is a machine. Big fan AFB too.. Still reckon he should of flattened Micheal Gordon for a try against the Titans though.

Marty needs to think to run first, offload next if needed. At the moment he's so caught up with offloading that it lowers the quality of his running game.

Not only the Premiership, last week Marty was also talking about wanting to play Origin footy. He needs to get his mind in the right place and focus on playing his best for his club.

Yeah, every time I see him make another appearance in the media (he was in the real estate section of one of the weekend papers last week) I cringe. I know he's got a career to think of when he's finished playing footy, but I really wish he'd concentrate on playing footy while he's here.

Can we change the title to Kapow the Winger, F***ing runs sideways more then a crab, grow a heart and run STRAIGHT and HARD...!!!!

Sorry I couldn't find just a Fonua Blake thread, but I noticed Adin is 'eligible for the Blues' on The Daily Telecraps article on Fifita wanting to play games 1 and 3 of SOO. It made me think. 'would he get a start if he was eligible?' What do Manly fans think? Reckon Freddy would pick him if he could?

I noticed that.. also in the fox sport origin selector he is an option. I don’t get it considering he played for NZ in the World Cup

And yea I think he’d be up there if true

is eligible or isn't eligible. I thought if you played for a tier 1 nation (not OZ) you couldn't play for NSW.
Tonga is tier 2, but AFB played for NZ.

Would he pick him anyways if he could...probably not. Drops a few balls, gives away the occasional cheap penalty. He would be close in a few years though.

AFB has now got the confidence to match it with his big opponents

Both he and Lane have matured into first grade and their fitness level has now got them more minutes on the field - good to see

A F B has definitely been one of the real improvers this season and just pleasing that both him and Marty are still contracted to Manly to at least 2020 . Seems quite contented at Manly and would be ideal if both he and Marty can be retained even after 2020 . To retain Paseka for some time yet would also be a great result . Still think that Lane "s best position is 2 nd row and he also has a good off load if used sensibly . A F B defence has picked up and been quite effective this year and i guess that the key has also been his improved fitness level .

AFB is playing like he’s the best prop in the NRL.
Its because he is. I believe the stats last year was that he made more metres after contact than any other forward in the competition at an average of 4 point something. This year he is double the bloke he was last year and only improving. He's the in-form prop of the competition 100%

AFB and Kapow are sensational players if they are used correctly. When they play like half backs( especially Kapow) and concede possession we lose and usually lose big.

If they think run with pass as a second option instead of reducing impact metres for preconceived offloads they are the best prop combination in the game.

It’s so obvious yet we seem to change week to week.

Currently not in the top 5 for post contact metres.

Klemmer is leading with 808 and Marty is in 5th with 609.

Marty is also 2nd in offloads and 4th in metres gained, AFB not in the top 5 for anything else.

Needless to say I don't think AFB is the best prop at the club unlike some.

He may not have the most and I believe that's because he doesn't do the most hit ups, but the average is pretty damn good.
