Pretty sure white breasted sea eagle bigger than wedge tail. The raptor that most closely resembles our colours is a brahmony kite. Maroon brown wings and tail white head and breast. Coastal dwelling too but if you look at our old logo in the eighties and nineties that bird appeared to be an osprey.

Yeah it's strange. Ospreys are "sea birds" arent they?

I think in the 90s they based the emblem on the 'Stellars Sea Eagle' brilliant looking bird and the resemblance is crazy to our emblem. Not found in Australia though.

Osprey is in the eagle family, bit like perigrine falcon though in that they are all over the world and not native to one continent they make the huge nests on power poles you see around the coast. You are right wedgie bigger than sea eagle.

To settle this arguement, none of them look anything much like any eagle in Australia. The colours are reversed. White body, red/moroon wings etc. Lets just say someone drew a vague portrait of some sort of Australian Eagle and called it a Sea Eagle because of our proximity to the ocean.
