Garrick not extended 🤣 guys a great player and one of the best goal kickers in the league

Absolute rubbish to say he’s one of the best goal kickers in the comp. Statistically last year Garrick was below the league average of 76.94% success rate.

He is an average goal kicker if you want to be generous & slightly below average if you want to be realistic. There were 8 players to take over 60 conversions last year & of those 8 Garrick finished 2nd lowest with 75.76% success. Overall if you took every teams 1st choice goal kicker from last year he ranks about 11-13th best kicker.

He has started of better this year with 79% but 6 games obviously isn’t a big enough sample size. If you are happy for the club to extend a below average goal kicker & rubbish defender than that’s cool, everyone is allowed a opinion

Agree that’s why I suggested edge and middle forwards that are young and have a high likelihood to succeed in first grade. If it means freeing up money I would look ate releasing Garrick and Koula to facilitate better forwards.

What are you yapping about? Form centre of the comp? 🤣🤣 a in form centre doesn’t get burnt like he did by Howarth the other week, completely embarrassing 1 on 1 defence. The goal kicker will be Fogarty or Walsh, whoever the next halfback of the club is. Also got no idea why you are ranting about Burbo & the pack, all I said was I don’t think Garrick will be extended & I stand by that. A big reason is that Large will most likely be a centre to start his career.

Just a tip for you, releasing guys on peanuts like you are suggesting such as Cheekam, Waddel, Brown & Sipley isn’t going to create salary cap space for us…

Off contract in 2026. How many years do you think he will want vs how many years would you give him?

What are you talking about? I’ve said multiple times I think Jake & Turbo should be on extremely reduced contracts or let go after their contracts expire. Who mentioned Garrick for origin? Guy isn’t even on the same planet as Critta, Turbo, Latrell, Best, Lomax & To’o

I'll be first to admit that Garrick needs to improve at centre - certainly. I think overall the number of tries he lets in there isn't great, but by far, it is not our biggest defensive problem. I prefer him at centre, and still do, as he is a gun player, whose second carries and attacking output are far better utilised at centre.

He will go missing in games on the wing, and honestly, I think he's worse in the air than Hopoate and possibly even Talau. He's a good finisher... But so is Clayton Faulalo. I'd rather have his output, and particularly, his running threat, in the centres.

As for his goalkicking, an important factor is that we effectively scored zero tries through the middle last year. He's limited by what he has in front of him, and the reason he was significantly better in 2021, is because we scored more tries, and a lot more in the middle, because we were extremely dominant. We're less so now, and our best attack is through our edges.

It has been in the news for the past 2 years. Did I say he’s like the others you mentioned? I just don’t get your disdain for the guy when there are others that should be dumped before him!

He’s a fine player, but I think we will get a lot more value having Onitoni Large playing centre for a couple years on half the money. There are definitely others that should be dumped before him but they aren’t all off contract after the 2026 season which was the original point

Garrick turns 30 in 27. I would take turbo on garrick money than keep garrick on the money he is now. Believe it or not. Turbo is the better player
