Who da u reckons then, i can't think off any that play long enough to b worthy.
I think Jake is the obvious choice. Sure, his game has regressed but he did captain NSW last year to a series win. He didn’t get a heap of game time but by all accounts he was inspirational.

Teams with halfbacks as captains kinda kill two birds with one stone, because the 7 is largely responsible for the set-by-set organisation of the team. So once the players are on the field, they’re getting a fair bit of direction from the 7, whether that’s the captain or not. So, whoever plays 7 next year will providing guidance. If Jake is captain, we just need him to set high standards at training, pump everyone up in the sheds before the games, and rip in physically when he happens to be on the field (which we know he will do).

Jakes Manly Pump Up Perspective ...
Teams have a Captain or Co Captains and Team Leaders to pump up the players

Jake may not have the C next to his name
But he is a predominant leader in the playing squad and in the pack
I do not see much pumping up from jake when we are under the pump and behind our goal post.
Besides . Jakes Best year are over and we need to plan for the future .

Jake was the captain of our NSW team but seldom was he on the field as the coach preferred other players for the on field battle . Other more dominant match winning players
No coach has their dominant match winning players on the side line

I would have our most Inspirational player as our Inspirational Leader Tom
But will he be on the field long enough to lead the way as team captains are required to do

A Great coach can turn Haumole into a Great captain
and Bring the Best out of the Premium Back Rower

Polarising opinion, but for me I would have Garrick captain and Haumole vc.
Love what Jake has done for us,but he would be on the bench for me,Tom is a maybe....
Shouldnt polarise, both of those guys are all in and should be part of the discussions
I reckon jakey has been in line and he will get it next year out of respect

Big Oka - will lift his energy, which will feed across the team...the Csptaincy will ensure involvement and the more you see him in a game, the chances of Manly Winning increase greatly....

Jake would seem like the obvious choice considering Tom spends too much time out, but he is not known for his training standards. He himself doesn't shy away from the fact that training is not his strong point, but when it comes to game day, there is no fiercer competitor, nor a more loyal Manly guy.

Definitely a tough one, as well as with the fact that even a guy like Croker is essentially ruled out of the conversation.

I would have Tom Captain, with Jake and Haumole Co-Vice Captains for when Tom is unavailable. Haumole has a presence, provides confidence for everyone in the team, leads through action, plays 80 week in and week out, is our game winner (after Tom), and is still maturing as a leader. He also has the unrivalled respect from the Pacifika players, and the younger generation. He and Jake could share differing responsibilities if Tom is unavailable.

Olakau'atu is definitely developing as a leader but occasionally, he just does not turn up. When that happens, he looks anything but composed. He just doesn't scream captain to me...yet. Going forward, I can see him getting there but not yet. In saying that, I am not privy to how the playing group see him and I am only giving my 'arm chair' opinion. I don't think he's any chance of taking the role permanently, while ever Tom or Jake are around but if he is ever the captain of Manly, I will be getting behind the decision, trusting the decision makers at the club to get it right.

I would imagine a lot of off field as well as on field pressure on a first grade captain. Jake and Tom would have had more exposure to leadership roles through their progress over their juniors and combined 22 years of first grade. They are both comfortable with the media and either or both in the position would bring more positive exposure for the club.

Haumole was only recently elevated to the leadership group. To me he appears to be trying to involve himself more in games. Another year doing his leadership apprenticeship under his more senior teammates would probably benefit him.
