If so, whatever actually happened must have resulted in pretty serious injuries to the victim then!
Ah yes, that's right - 11 years bird or against women or childrenI think it can also be used for any assault charge against women and children no matter the maximum sentence.
Thank you for opening that link @SeaEagleRock8Meanwhile, the playing future of another player currently stood down under the NRL’s ‘no-fault’ policy, Manase Fainu, has become even more clouded after the Manly hooker underwent a third shoulder reconstruction last week.Kamikamica stood down by NRL as injury further clouds Fainu’s future
Storm prop Tui Kamikamica has become the latest player to be stood down under the NRL’s ‘no fault’ policy.www.smh.com.au
Fainu remains on a $1000-a-week train-and-trial deal with the Sea Eagles having been stood down for the last two seasons by the NRL for his alleged involvement in a stabbing at a church dance in 2019.
The 23-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges, including wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm in company. He is due back in court in July.
Fainu underwent a revision reconstruction last week after he struggled to get through his share of training sessions last season. The Herald can reveal Fainu’s shoulder popped out almost half a dozen times. The recovery time from the latest surgery is six months.
Fainu is said to be struggling after the latest surgery and sources with knowledge of the injury say he may struggle to play again, even if cleared of the criminal charges.
Manly chief executive Stephen Humphreys confirmed Fainu had the same shoulder operated on a third time.
“We’ll be supporting Manase all the way through his rehab with the hope he will get back on the field at some point in the future,” Humphreys said.
Fainu’s younger brothers Sione, Samuela and Latu Fainu are all contracted to Manly. Latu a promising five-eighth aged just 16, recently inked a deal which could see him earn in excess of $1.5m with bonuses over the next few years.
Manase spent two weeks behind bars after the stabbing incident at Wattle Grove, in Sydney’s south west, and told the Herald earlier this year Manly coach Des Hasler remained in touch with him and even paid him a visit in jail.
The Sea Eagles are well stocked for No. 9s, with Lachlan Croker making the role his own last year. Karl Lawton is a specialist hooker and Gordon Chan Kum Tong and Jamie Humphreys, who are on development contracts, are also capable of playing hooker in the coming years.
The Sydney Roosters’ signing of Brandon Smith from 2023 has sparked debate about Sam Verrills’ future at Bondi. Verrills grew up on the northern beaches, playing junior football with Jake Trbojevic, and while Manly would never rule out making an early play for the Avalon product, they are content with their depth in the position.
The wild storms that ripped through the northern beaches on Sunday evening caused a power outage at the club’s Narrabeen base, and forced the players to train at another gym. Construction work of the club’s new academy at Brookvale Oval was not impacted, nor was Globaleagle.
The Sea Eagles have had a disrupted couple of weeks leading into Christmas after a handful of their players, including Tom Trbojevic, Haumole Olakau’atu and Jason Saab needed to islolate last week because of two COVID positives at an Emerging Blues camp.
We can't really pin this on the Eels, much as it may be nice to.
Yeah, I only went the Parra bit because that was his last club, and they let him go with 18 months to go on his contract. We can't really pin this on the Eels, much as it may be nice to.
He started as a Panther.
He played for the Chooks (including scoring a decisive try in 2013 GF to deny Manly a premiership)
He is a NSW Blue.
He is a Kangaroo.
Doesn't mean Panthers, Chooks, Blues or Kangaroos are scum.
Are all men scum? Well, no. But those who sexually assault women - including their own wives - I wouldn't argue the point
Yep caught with some white powder.I am reading NEC Green Rockets new recruit Blake Fergusson could be in the news soon ... more to come
At least he never played for Manly otherwise they would have lead with that.
I think the rehab clinic in Thailand will sort him out in a few daysJust waiting for the mental health card to be played
Why am i not surprised, sometimes in games he kinda looks out of it tbh.“Blake Ferguson, a contract player belonging to NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu, was arrested on December 30 on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs,” said a club statement.
“We deeply apologize for causing a great deal of concern and inconvenience to everyone involved.
“Our team fully cooperates with the police investigation and strives to understand the situation.”
The former Kangaroos and NSW Origin star was arrested by Tokyo Metropolitan police and accompanied to Azabu police station on suspicion of assaulting a man at a restaurant in Roppongi, Minato-ku.
It was there that Ferguson was searched and allegedly found to be in possession of cocaine.
Drug possession is seen as a serious offence in Japan with punishments including up to five years imprisonment."
