The Australian 5th November 2018

Sharks have asked to be kept informed on the future of Alex Johnston as the South Sydney fullback is being squeezed out of the No 1 Jersey at the Rabbitohs
Souths have signed Prime Ministers XIII Corey Allan from the Broncos and they also have Greg Inglis as an alternative fullback heading into the next season
The Cowboys are ready to pay top dollar to bring Holmes back to Townsville in 2020 and Johnston would give Cronulla another option at fullback

Sea eagles coach Des Hasler is expected to tinker with his roster with centre Brian Kelly likely to join the Gold Coast and several forwards under the microscope

South Sydney could split Burgess twins if Tevita Pangai Junior signs for 2020

With their contracts ending at the conclusion of the 2019 season, their close relationship with Wayne Bennett might not be enough to keep them together at Redfern.

The incoming Rabbitohs coach’s desire to pull across star players such as Tevita Pangai Junior could force one of the Burgess brothers out of the club.

Queensland coach Kevin Walters has reacted to a rare State of Origin series loss by axing long-serving Trevor Gillmeister and hiring some of the Maroons’ biggest names.
Walters also dropped assistant Josh Hannay and long-time trainer Tony Spencer.

Hodges replaces Hannay as Maroons assistant and Civoniceva is the new team manager while Thurston and Slater will lend a hand at Maroons camps throughout the series.

Melbourne Storm’s Matthew Barradeen replaces Spencer as the new trainer.

Walters said he needed to take a new direction in 2019 as Queensland attempt to win back the Origin title after NSW won only their second series in 13 years this season.

LUKE Brooks is on the verge of signing a long-term contract extension with his beloved Wests Tigers.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that new head coach Michael Maguire will sit down for a face-to-face with Brooks this weekend in an effort to convince the Dally M Halfback of the Year to stay on until 2023.

England’s rugby director Kevin Sinfield is confident Wayne Bennett will be at the helm of the national team through to the 2021 World Cup.

Tommy Makinson — the English winger awarded the prestigious Golden Boot award for the best player in the world this year — has revealed he wants to test himself in the NRL.

Currently signed with St Helens until the end of 2021, the 27-year-old has spoken publicly about his desire to test himself in the game’s toughest competition.

Interestingly, he has a close relationship with Newcastle Knights head coach Nathan Brown from his St Helens days, and he admitted he’d spoken with Brown but insisted there would be no reunion “yet”.

It is highly unlikely St Helens would release Makinson, considering they have already allowed Man of Steel recipient Ben Barba to break his contract early on compassionate grounds to return to Australia.

But if a deal was to be made, the Canberra Raiders would loom as a potential destination.

Apparently the Dragons are considering releasing Dufty from the final year of his contract in order to sign Hayne. Source: SMH and Foxsports.

In my view, Hayne is worth the gamble for the dragons. Just not sure that letting go of a local junior for a mercenary to make it happen is the right way to go about it.

Former Eels’ hooker Cameron King has taken the hilarious step of using Twitter to find a new club, after failing to ink a new deal with Parramatta.
The 27-year-old from Wagga played 22 games for the Eels over the past two seasons and he wants the world to know he has plenty left to offer.

King posted an ad for his services on his Twitter page that listed his attributes and asked people to retweet to raise awareness.

Wayne Bennett insists his position of coaching Brisbane Broncos next season is unchanged and claims there is no conflict of interest in his having signed as South Sydney mentor for the 2020 season.
The 68-year-old, who has won six titles at Brisbane, has vowed to see out his contract at Red Hill before swapping roles with current South Sydney chief Anthony Seibold.
