SEVEN Mondays I must say WTF!!!

But, for me it's better than the other crap my wife watches on a Monday AND RL gets a prority in my household so not all bad.

TERRIBLE for those living down south and wanting to go to the games.

It's mystifying isn't it? We will become MNF specialists. Very bad for our coffers too.

A few things that were promised with the draw but not delivered:
1. Equity with free to air exposure.
2. Sharing around dud time slots that result in poor ground attendance (Monday and Thursday nights).

Sunday arvo football is a Manly tradition, and we have, what 1-2 confirmed games in that time slot?

How is it that in as big a market as the USA equity is achieved in the NFL, even down to awful games between bottom placed teams having prime time slots on Sunday night? Yet we get stuck with a Broncothon?

Only two home Monday games, but yes very bad for the clubs income.

Two long distance away (Cowboys and Storm) and the rest Sydney based....makes it almost impossible for our MWTS team to garner much supporter for these games.

We all hate Monday's, and have to have them BUT how about they are equally shared around!!

I made the comment in an e-mail today that our entire MWTS away schedule is all in the first half of the draw!!

Makes it VERY hard for the loyal MWTS members to do it all!!

Monday nights becoming drinking nights is going to be a problem!

The other drama is only 2 Saturday night games in the dead of winter; nothing more I like than settling in and watching a live Manly game on a Saturday night.

I think all crowd attendance considerations go out the window with this TV deal as the clubs can now effectively survive regardless of how many people turn up to the game.

The disparity in the draw for teams that are meant to have an even economic playing field aswell as exposure is a joke.

Has the club responded yet.

Rubbish draw but hardly unexpected we don't draw enough viewers for prime time commercial tv.

So we have one Saturday night home game and that's most probably gonna be in china. Makes it hard to travel from anywhere to see a home given Fridays and Sunday's are tough and Monday's are impossible when you live four hours away.

I used to go to brooky fur to five times a year, cant see it happening at all next year.

Nrl are kow- towering, spineless yes men to the comercial interests of the game and to hell with the fans.

Fair dinkum one period where we play 3 consecutive Monday games, followed by another period of 3 consecutive Monday games, then a weekend game and then another Monday night game.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us for the last six rounds.

The NRL could have at least kissed us before they *ucked us!

So the only TWO Sunday afternoon games all season are:
v Sharks - 2pm Sunday, April 14
v Titans - 3pm Sunday, July 21

I've just checked http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/sydney.shtml and both April 14 & July 21 are almost sure to be heavy rain.

Sea Eagles surprised by 2013 draw

I actually think that monday night games are great for our TEAM. They allow us to stay out of the spotlight of the weekend matches, we get a 7 day turn around, and we noly have to play two of those games at home.

I, for one, think that the draw is bloody awesome!

Not only that, but I now live in London.... so I get to sit at my desk on a Monday morning and watch my beloved eagles running around rather than getting up at 6am on a saturday or sunday. HAPPY DAYS!

But we should stop and look at the draw from our teams perspective - and i fully believe that this draw gives us the very best chance of success, and puts us in a good position to win a premiership. Everyone here is whinging about how it doesn't suit them, their bed times, and whether or not their wife will let them watch the footy etc - to those people, i say GET OVER IT. Learn to record a match, or learn to stand up for yourself.

I COMPLETELY understand and agree with Mark's concerns aruopnd MWTS - I feel for ya buddy (and the people who normally travel on these trips). That is a definite downside.

Please remember - it is freezing cold and wet here in London, and I am still at work (its only 10:15 am) so I am probably being a little cranky ...

Cheers!

What else can they say???

Thanks mate on a personal basis it's good for me as well, weekends to do stuff and then home from work for the footy advertisement free BUT I understand the pain for those trying to get to games

Well I'm glad he told us what he really thinks.

Like most, I agree there are far too many Monday night games and not enough Sunday arvo games. The way I see it, Monday night football should be extinct. It attracts useless crowds, 90% of the time is a poor quality game and even the viewing ratings on Fox arent that great.
However, at least they given us the 7 day turnaround on most occasions which will benefit us, having gone on results of the past few seasons. I love the fact we get an away trip to Canberra for a change, a nice weekend away down there.
All in all, Im not too fussed with the draw, at least it is already out and we dont have to wait 5-6 weeks before a game to know where we are playing.

100% disagree that people need to get over it, and "learn to record the game". Guess what? Not all of us watch the game on TV. Some of us like to actually go to the games. Monday nights make this extremely hard when you have a full time job. That's what we are complaining about. So no, I am not going to get over it. We, as fans who like to go to games, have been royally screwed this year.

The onl good things to come out of this schedule are the fact we get Melbourne twice and we finally get to return to Canberra. Bet this game is on a Monday too.

Showing where we rank with the game's administrators. The "No one likes us, we don't care factor" is coming home to roost. Channel Nine are saying, "we don't like you!"
Bulldogs, loads of Friday games because of huge fan base, emotion and that's something we will never have.
Crap ground, poor fan base and unpopular team will mean we better get used to the scrapping of the barrel. Channel Nine will run the NRL with this contract. Storm vs Manly on a Monday night sums it all up.

Sunday afternoon games an endangered species at Brookie in 2013

A FRUSTRATED Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey has described the NRL's 2013 draw as " inequitable" after the club team was handed a horror schedule on Friday.

The dedicated army of Manly fans will be up in arms with the news that over the first 20 rounds the Sea Eagles only play two Sunday afternoon games at Brookvale Oval.

That has traditionally been the big day for footy at the Fortress with a special atmosphere that can't be beaten.

Yet over the same period the Sea Eagles face seven Monday night games, including a run of three in a row against the Dragons, Roosters and the Storm.

Manly has more Monday night games than any other club - the Tigers are next with four while at the other end of the spectrum the Bulldogs have none.

"They talk about salary caps to make it an even playing field but, when the draw comes out, it makes it an inequitable position for those Sydney teams who get pushed around," Toovey said.

It has been reported that changes were made to the original draw because broadcasters Channel 9 was not happy.

"I think until the Commission takes a bit more control of the draw it is going to remain an uneven playing field for teams and clubs," Toovey said .

The Manly coach feels for supporters with only two Sunday afternoon games so far.

"This is totally driven by the media obviously," he said.

In another crazy piece of scheduling the Sea Eagles play the Warriors on Sunday afternoon in Auckland in round 13 and then back up five days days later against arch-rivals the Bulldogs on Friday night at Brookie.

It is unlikely that they will be able to get back to Sydney from Auckland until Monday to start preparing for one of the biggest showdowns of the year.

Well that sucks! Needed to be fully rested for that one I would've thought.
