Fabulous memories Eagle 66. Thank you. I used to have a million Rugby League Weeks saved from the 70's but 12 years ago when I last moved - my girlfriend at the time and now my wife had three children, I had two - she had a four bedroom house - I had a 5 - we decided to buy a place together and so we had to be really ruthless in what we were keeping and in a moment of absolute madness I decided that the suitcase with all the Rugby League Weeks could go Aghhhhh, Many of those you posted I had given the photos were so iconic you could never forget them. Mind you - not sure why I was so worried about taking a bloody suitcase and given the fact we live on two acres but anyway - the silly mistakes we make. Thank you again - a great way to start Sunday.

Great stuff thanks @eagle66

Was never a double movement vs Wests in that semi. We wuz robbed!

There was a period there in 74/75 where kids would just run of the field. Not just at full time. Whenever the play was getting close like that Fulton try. it was crazy near fulltime as the clock got down to about 20 seconds & no one would wait for the siren & dozens of kids would run on! Then the NSWRL started that the thing where the clock stopped with 5 mins to go so no one knew when it was going to be fulltime.

That Amco Cup game vs Souths. TV audience of 1.5million? In 1974? League has gone backwards in Sydney if that is true.

Great stuff Eagle 66 Admittedly some top shelf sides featured here but some really good and open footy played during that era . Noticeable that while Phil Lowe had some real pace for Manly , Barry Beath from the Saints was no slouch either in that department . Just have vague recollections of that controversial final "s loss to Wests shown but do clearly recall the notion that Manly were definitely robbed of that obvious try . May have given the Roosters a real run for their money and would have been in with a real shot [ to make it 3 in a row ] in the G F that season if Manly were full strength and did make it through .

I only vaguely remember it but what is missing from this excellent thread is a mention of Rd 6 game at the SCG. Manly vs Easts had 50K people there for a Saturday game. There can't have been too many normal club games bigger than that in Sydney ever, especially so early in the season. Rorters won 15-5.

Looking at the http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nswrfl-1974/manly-warringah-sea-eagles/summary.html Manly lost at Brookie vs Roosters later in the season too. Another 20K fans there.

This 1975 footy card looks like it was taken at the 1974 SCG game.
