    Future is bright without DCE

None of those players would have won a premiership alone or even with one or two. Premierships are won by having a team of quality players across the park. Manly have not had that since 2014-15. Only this year are their signs of potential. Turbo has been with us for a decade. So has Jurbo. Yet...

    Future is bright without DCE

Agreed. Even when the great Fulton left for Easts, Manly remained a top side and won the premiership two years later. Its far worse when a group of top players leave all at once with little coming through. That happened in 2015-16. The Sea Eagles are far better set for the loss of DCE and even...

Mestrov & Penn vs DCE: Who is lying?

Again this is 'lets demean the only player in the team over the past decade who had consistently given his all for the team.' Lets again blame him for joining the Titans in 2015 after withdrawing their offer to him because of a time limit given. They didn't do that to Foran and even upped their...

    Garrick general news thread

What I like about Garrick is his common sense professionalism. He works on his game, tries to address his weaknesses, a quiet achiever who gets the job done. In my opinion he's up there with some of our best outside backs of the past. Improves with every year.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Raiders [Round 3, 2025]

I know Garrick has some questionable positioning defensive issues but is there a centre in the game to compare who knows where the try line is. Take away Saab at 0.73 and Turbo with a 0.69 try scoring effort per game at Manly, next down the list is Garrick at 0.59 (Koula is 0.34). He's already...

    Defence

Should also be pointed out that Tom was almost a passenger and missed a chank of time in late second half as did DCE. Also noted Jake was sin binned at the 62 minute mark with NZ leading 24-16. That alone ended any come back

    Funny stories and amusing anecdotes

Way back when cameras only televised from the grand stand side of the field, our little group used to sit on the eastern hill adjacent to the northern twenty metre line. On one particular sunday afternoon we were watching Manly play (cant recall who) and the famed Hollywood Hartley was the...

    1976 GF winger, Rod Jackson

I attended a small dinner party in the 90s I think it was. Rod was going out with one of our work colleagues and was in attendance. I seem to recall he was in some kind of business concerning clothing. Cant say its the same person in the photo but was definitely Rocket Rod Jackson at the...

    The Silvertail's optimism pulse 2025.

Four teams Manly will be competing with for the Four. Panthers, Storm, Bronks, Sharks. At this stage can't see any of the other sides challenging for a position at the top. May be a surprise packet. Dogs, Rabbits look the outsiders.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Cowboys [Round 1, 2025]

Criticism of Burb, I feel, is justified. 6 missed tackles is not good enough. Needs to pick up on his game. Criticism of Saab I feel is not justified. 171 mtrs gained, 5 tackle breaks, a try. Can't do more than that. Defence better than we've seen but as LC points out, there still needs to be...

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

Yes one of the stated roles of the lock in Wikipedia is as an extra ball distributor, loose forward. Certainly a mix of prop and second row at times but certainly they tend to be interchangeable with second row. With forwards, as with most players the first three or four runs are up the middle...

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

I think some of you guys are not understanding my process/tactics. Let me first stress what I state I don't necessarily believe unequivocally I'm using typical debating techniques whereby a position I take, I support by presenting evidence. Now that evidence is not necessarily unchallengeable...

Yeo, Ex Centre plays wide often. Walker, ex centre often runs at the fringes.

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

I'm saying that the game has not changed significantly since the 1970s. The only big changes are professionalism, full time player commitment, strength, fitness and speed improvements. Players are built bigger, stronger, faster, which wasn't possible back in the 70s as much because players often...

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

I think you're confusing coach strategies and specific player skills, with changes in the game. Personally, and I've watched the game since 1966, the only significant change to the way the game is played occurred in 1967 with the introduction of the limited tackle rule. That impacted...

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

Not getting through am I. They are back rowers and therefore suited for lock positions. Menzies often played lock. Burbo centre. A large number of the second rowers playing for the NRL last season if you check, played second row...and lock. Interchangeable, unlike having a prop there. The whole...
