I’d play him if a win gives us a shot at 8th (about a 12.5% chance of happening), but otherwise agree!

    The Cheese ... allegedly charged

It is frustrating how they cherry pick the “market value” rule. Given we offered him a two year deal at $700k per year, wouldn’t that indicate his market value is at least in that ball park? You can’t blame the fans for getting annoyed when it seems rules apply differently depending on which...

I think there’s an element of insurance pay out as well? Which is why it can be such a long and frustrating process to get the approval?

It’s up to $300k unless they reduced it since 2016? The more recent CBA may have changed this but can’t see it being less? Increasing the veteran player allowance by up to 50 per cent. This move recognises that clubs and players should be rewarded for long service. The allowance will now...

That helps $150k each. Turbo qualified as of this year and Jake’s been qualified for a while. So let’s Pencil in Large at say $225k Add $300k long service allowance Leaves us 3 roster spots and say $900k-$1.1m

Hard to argue with much of this. Only thing I’d say is Rugby had offered Koula $800k so I’d say you’re estimating him on a little unders.

Pretty sure Jazz and Toff would have been on pretty minimal deals. I don’t think we have as much cap to play with next year as you might think.

We do, but who on the market right now fits what we need? We have salary cap being freed up in 2027. We need some one year stop gaps.

As I’ve said in the Nostradamus thread, I wouldn’t be going after any of the names currently being quoted as off-contract on long-term deals; they’re either the same as what we’ve already got or a step backwards. Looking at our players coming off contract in 2026, the only ones I’d probably...

Up until now I was convinced he was staying. Heard something today that’s made me rethink that. Can’t say much more — but I wouldn’t be getting too comfortable if I was on the coaching staff.

Who though? Anyone still unsigned is more of the same or worse than what we currently have. Better to keep two spots open and hope there’s some movement mid year next year, otherwise grab some journeymen on one year deals and have a proper crack at some higher quality players in ‘27.

    2026 ( the Nostradamus thread )

They always had a strong forward pack and their young spine is where they improved, Fogarty also missed a big chunk of last year with injury. We have the opposite problem, an experienced spine where I see limited improvement potential and a dads army forward pack that make no impact whatsoever.
