    One of the most pleasing aspects of today's game was the form of some of the players who ended last year in poor form. Aloiai looked fit and mobile. He had some strong runs in the middle and made a half break. Bully played his best game. His speed around the ruck was something we have missed...

    It is unlikely we would have seen the likes of Myers, Fifita, Gordon and Fainu feature so heavily under Des. He was the king of low risk, low reward options such as Burbo at centre, Funa 5/8, Taufua. Pretty sure Harper played fullback in a trial at one stage.
