    The Daly Cherrygraph

Without laying blame on DCE, the fact of the matter is, Manly has not looked even remotely close to a top 4 side for a decade under his captaincy and with him as our chief playmaker and leader. I reiterate - in no way do I place Manly's misfortunes solely in his hands. But the fact of the...

    Line speed and ruck area

100% correct. Our senior players no longer "want" to dominate their opposite on an individual level. It doesn't seem to be in their nature. They don't take the physical challenge personally. No one fears Manly any more, at least not in a brutal way. When guys froth at the thought of impending...

    Zane Dunford

I've rated him highly for many years in our juniors. A local product who was captain of our SG Ball team that did quite well with guys like Tolu and Weekes a few years ago. Great tackling technique with high footy IQ. Major injury set him back a season or two. Hoping he is putting pressure on...

    The Silvertail's optimism pulse 2025.

Dogs' defence will have them leapfrog us if we haven't improved in this area. We have a top 4 roster but if our defence is not top 4, then we won't improve on last year. Really simple.

Congrats to the plodders & Nepo

Instead of being an average to below-average edge player, Waddell could evolve into the quintessential modern day middle forward - mobility we lack in this area

    Pre-Game Manly V Cowboys [Round 1, 2025]

I'd also like to take this opportunity to point out that as we can all agree that we do not have a top 4 forwards roster, we must be smarter in how we use the men we have. This, in my opinion, is done with the bench. Stacking our starting middles with our best players may seem the obvious way...

    Pre-Game Manly V Cowboys [Round 1, 2025]

Wholeheartedly agree. Tevaga's strengths have always been bringing energy as a mobile middle forward off the bench, with the added bonus of utility if, by necessity, he had to cover dummy half. Playing him at 9 early, not only diminishes our threat from dummy half - even more so than Croker, but...

    Pre-Game Manly V Cowboys [Round 1, 2025]

That bench will not cut it. Our middle third will cave after the first 20

    [Resurrected] Paseka

It's a shame big Nella doesn't have some of that JWH about him. We have been missing an alpha for too long

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

Certainly needs to bring back the offload into his game. No question, he must evolve as the body slows. But still an astute link man. I think with guys like Chez, Brooks, and Turbo, we really don't need anything flashy from our 13. Definitely need more punch, and I think reducing his minutes...

A part of me lost hope many years ago. The other still thinks it's a little too early to be blowing a gasket

I must say how I've missed the footy! This place really goes off after a loss, highly entertaining

    Bench for 2025

But Nella doesn't really assert dominance in the first 20 - in fact, rarely does any individual front rower. During the opening exchanges, dominance is gained through collective aggression, high energy and line speed, and quick play-the-balls. It is always during Nella's second stint, when the...

The first 8 rounds will define the year

Given Seibold historically has his teams starting fast out of the blocks, it will be during the Origin period and back end of the season, when niggling injuries accumulate and when the top tier teams step it up a notch, when we will actually see if this team is made of the right stuff.

    Bench for 2025

This is why I would have Koula on the bench. He would provide backs cover, but if this was not needed, he would come on the back 20mins of each half and tear through the middle of tiring oppositions. An explosive bench could be: 14 Koula 15 Tevaga 16 Paseka 17 Bullemor 18 Brown / Navale /...

I think he's recovering from a minor injury/illness from memory

    Depth

My point is merely that there is a group of tough and seasoned NRL forwards playing in our reserve grade team. This is not common. Definitely agree that hooking position is still a relative weakness. But I still believe what we have is good enough, if the rest work to their potential.
