Roosters v Raiders Grand Final Thread

LOLGF. What a disgrace. As the song says "How bizarre, how bizarre". And the commentators just carry on with the Roosters love-in as though the reaming of the Raiders never happened.

Roosters v Raiders Grand Final Thread

Roosters are way ahead in possession 57-43%. Hopefully it evens up. Raiders are in this.

Roosters v Raiders Grand Final Thread

Yep. The Raiders are getting on top physically so the refs bring out the soft penalties for the Roosters.

    Annesley admits ref mistake

Annesley's statements regarding this match have shown him to be unprofessional and out of his depth. He should resign. His initial reaction to Des ("tell your players not to give away penalties") was petty and inappropriate. He continued to make comments about the Jake sin-binning before he...

Game Day: Manly v Souths [Finals week 2: 2019]

Canberra hasn't beaten either Manly or South's this year.

    Bernard Sutton had a blinder.

That reminds me: the so called error by Parker in the play-the-ball was actually knocked out by Burgess' knee as Parker tried to play it. Another wong decision. Should have been a penalty to Manly.

    Bernard Sutton had a blinder.

Don't forget too that there were 2 or 3 blatant knock backs called as knock-ones against us. None against them. That is just as good as another 2 or 3 penalties in the flow of the game. Absolutely disgraceful refereeing.

    Dessie blowing up deluxe

Gagai was deliberately obstructing Jake which he is entitled to do. BUT, he was not even really involved in the play, so Jake giving him a nudge in no way affected the play. A referee sin binning a player for that should never set foot on a rugby league field ever again.

    Bernard Sutton had a blinder.

Just the same ****e we've copped all year, so why are we surprised? Was it 6-0 penalties in the second half? What can you say? Would it ever happen in any other sport that the refereeing would decide the match so decisively.

    Amateur hour indeed.

Surely the home team has to be barred from ever hosting a home final for allowing unsafe fireworks to be used at their ground. Think of the children.

    Lack of patience

IMHO the problem is the speed of the ruck (or lack therof). Since the emergence of the latest ball stripping craze the referees are allowing defenders to wrestle with the ball to a ridiculous extent. Previously, you may recall penalties for "hand on the ball" in the ruck. Now it's not just a...

The Joel Thompson NO Try ??

Logically, you would think that the first premise of any obstruction call should be that someone was actually obstructed! Not any more.

    Refs - any clues?

They missed the blatant strip by Sims on AFB (right in front of them!) which gave St George the possession for their first try, and all the momentum for the next 10 minutes. Hunt appeared to be offside virtually every tackle.

Have you ever heard of ...

The pictures shown at the links show Huddersfield teams containing Russ Pepperrell and Pat Devery who also later coached Manly. Pat may have been the link for Russ to have come to Manly. http://www.huddersfieldrlheritage.co.uk/Photo_Library/Team/Reunions/Ch_10_Pic_18_Hudd_Team_1948-single.php...

Have you ever heard of ...

According to his Wikipedia page Russell Pepperell played 350 games for Huddersfield between 1938 and 1956, scoring 300 tries. Not a bad strike rate! I assume he lost a few years of playing due to the war, so his tally could have been quite a bit higher. Wikipedia shows he played 4 games for...
