Well before I was born but always thought Frank Stanton was a Front rower...not a halfbackView attachment 11534 Russ Pepperell - our coach in 1965. I have to admit I have no recollection of him ever been mentioned? He was a bit before my time but does anyone recall Russ

But love seeing those old programs......poor ol reserves don’t get a mentionView attachment 11534 Russ Pepperell - our coach in 1965. As a kid when I first dioscovered rugby league, and Manly, Frank was playing inside centre with Alec Tennant outside. We had Fulton at 5/8, and Les Hannigan on a wing, George Hunter was coach, and they made the grand final (1968).Well before I was born but always thought Frank Stanton was a Front rower...not a halfback
Ron Lynch was a great player too. That was the last year Parramatta made the semis until 1971.Looks like nothing has changed.
That Parra team looks to be complete rubbish other than the Thornetts, Brian Hambly and Billy Raynor from Yass.

It took several reads, but the penny finally dropped.😛That is because to be a reserve for first grade you needed to have played in reserve grade ... any one of those reserve grade players then could then be called upon ... so in fact all of the reserve grade team were "reserves" ...
Pss ... I wouldn't be surprised if that is the most times reserves has been used in one sentence in the history of the English language ...
Fairly certain Dennis Ward was the half for us that yearAs a kid when I first dioscovered rugby league, and Manly, Frank was playing inside centre with Alec Tennant outside. We had Fulton at 5/8, and Les Hannigan on a wing, George Hunter was coach, and they made the grand final (1968).
Never heard of Pepperell though.
