I agree with almost everything you say but I believed DESpicable got it very wrong with selections early in the season and got lucky that injuries to Walker, Sir Loin, Lance, Suli and Jetski forced him to make changes. We may never have seen Guacca, The Shoe, Harpo and Sippers become permanent members of our top 17.
I never thought we had a terrible roster, simply because we weren't seeing the talented 'second tier' players get their chance.
By mixing a blend of experience with youthful exuberance (and Turbo, of course) we now have a team that is playing for one another and is enjoying their football. I doubt I have every seen such a transformation of a backline from those first four matches when we had no attack to a more traditional style of Manly backline of speed, excitement and skill.
Watching the 17 we have had in recent matches has been a joy.

Couldn't agree more mate. Its interesting to look back at posts by a number of Silvertails who basically picked our current seventeen as their first round team selection. Many posters (myself included) were extremely frustrated that obvious changes were not being made in the four round horror show to begin the season. Those same posters (again myself included) couldn't be happier that our current seventeen is now playing so well. Manly is winning and I couldnt really give two ****s about anything else. Go Manly.

Admonishing people for the deathriding and the total lack of support for Des, the players and the club to me is spot on. In fact I wouldn't say it is admonishing anyone - merely pointing out facts. Many of the comments were vile and for the fact that many have just now disappeared or have failed to admit their reactions were a total over reach and that Des indeed does have some idea - as I said just says a lot about people's character. I didn't want Des back because of his treachery but I could never question his footy IQ. Do I think everything is rosy - no - without Turbo we are just another side. And yes there still has to be some players sent packing at the end of the year. I would hate however to be on in a fight or a battle wanting to rely on the support of many of the people on here... they are damn quick to abandon ship and throw anyone/everyone under the bus.

Agreed but when people are actually wanting us to fail to prove their point - that to me is not a Manly supporter.

Yes it's like an attack of the killer fanboys. However, the difference in opinions is exactly what makes this an interesting site to be a part of. The majority (90 percent) of posters on here are capable of expressing diverse opinions on a whole range of Manly centred topics. Most of them are also capable of defending said opinions in the right spirit and in a respectful way. The others are a mix of yes men, trolls and wankers who I couldn't be ****ed even communicating with. However, they contribute to the color and atmosphere of the chat, and clearly support Manly. (Some in very weird ways). Because of that I accept them as being part of the Silvertails fabric, and on this (and many other issues), I will agree to disagree.

I’d have bought 10,000 CBA shares at $3.40 not 1000 in 198

Bet $1000 not $50 on my annual “ Manly to win “ in 2008 and 2011.

And not said some things I said in rounds 1-4 ( although Croker not being TNI is still true ).

To be fair Mark, certain essay length posters who always think they are right about eeeeeverything, from league, our team to bloody Corvid, ( not you, though you are a world class dribbler, your more respectful) were giving it to anyone who didn't share their belief so it's only fair some get their cumuppance.
Worse is they haven't owned it, just disappeared.

Passion is the achilles heel on Rugby League forums, no doubt.

Passion blinds logic and people vent their frustrations and that's fine.

As passionate as I am, I choose to remove my emotions from the situation for a moment and think rationally.

We don't need a new coach. He has been to five Grand Finals; too many for luck to play a part.

DCE is an Origin winning Captain. The squad is littered with talent. Enough to compete each week in this competition.

Tom T is a big out for us and the Fainu situation has meant we are down a genuine 9.

We will get Tom T back and we have enough to suggest that we will weather this storm. It just hasn't been a great start to the year...it happens. That's RL.

Keep the faith and get behind the club instead of knocking it when it's down. We need genuine supporters, not stone throwers. If you wanna throw stones, go for it. But the rest of us will enjoy future success so much more because we stuck solid during the tough times (which I might add, are not that tough when compared to say, Parramatta's history).

So so true - those big mouth deathriders have suddenly shut up and vanished. I have seen few if any admissions of big mouthitis or I was wrooonnngggggg - just silence. I must admit there are some things I was originally wrong about including the Foran returning was a bad idea, Croker, Garrick etc not being up to A Grade standard but I have admitted they are both playing great and the Foran signing was a great outcome and that I was wrong. I still think we can upgrade at hooker and that Walker is a better attacking Centre but yes when you are wrong you admit that - no harm done. But yes it really says a lot about the character of the deathriders - they either disappear, change their profile name because they are so embarrassed, or just pretend and hope everyone forgets. Sad sad bunch of doomsdayers.

Alot of the 'deathriders' and I will add myself into that.. were saying Des is a flog for picking the same side over and over. Jetski over Guacamole? Siro over Shuster? Suli over Harper? Walker at full back was stupid. Boyle over anyone?? Sipley has been amazing off the bench. We were calling for changes... Des made them due to injury rather than foresight. So we were kind of right

I will admit Croker has surprised me.. he's improved alot. Same with Garrick. Not sold on Parker yet. Think Koula deserves a shot there next.. But more likely Walker and Suli if Parker was injured. Oh and Saab by his own admission was poor and not putting his body on the line. Criticism was deserved for alot of them. Maybe it helped spark them up..

Regardless. I'm happy this side has finally got on the park. They go on about Tom doing it himself but these changes were crucial too. They choose to ignore we won against the warriors without Tom.

After all the negative posts.. I praise when due.. they deserve the praise now. We just want Manly to be great again.
