I'd love for someone to ring 2ue when Bourbon Bec is on and confront her about her article now this gas all come out. She is an absolute disgrace and should not be allowedto get away with such slander.

Is that where the skank has gone

If i am not mistaken News reached a settlement with Brett. Brett may or may not have chosen the terms of the settlement to not include a public apology (as it stands none of us really know)

Therefore they did not get away with it. Brett, who is the only one that really matters, reached a settlement that he must be happy with it
There was a small public apologie

Fair call Cam (i remember the two liner on page 32...) however Brett could have pushed for more if that was important to him

More than likely News said if you want any more you'll have to take us to court and relive the experience again. A tactic employed by organisations to limit their damage in circumstances like this that the person who has been wronged will settle for less just to put the experience behind them.

All speculation, and that now needs to end guys, back to discussing the OP please

I think it is on public record that News Limited paid an amount of money to Brett Stewart based on what was incorrectly reported. My memory says it was around $200 k. If that is correct, News got off lightly as the article in Good Weekend indicates that the source was the father, who is basically a fraud. The damage to Brett's squeaky reputation and his subsequent treatment from Gallop and the NRL, was based on the same reports. In the end, there was no substance to any of it. I reckon a few million would be closer to what Brett should have been paid and a parting apology from Gallop might have also been in order, given the truth of the story!!!

He's probably not happy with it (if I was him I wouldn't be happy with anything short of a front page headline that says "Our stories on Brett Stewart were all made up"), but I suppose he thought the settlement was the best he could do.

Haha poor Dan had to edit posts for no reason, better safe than sorry.

Well if that's the case this should be the first article posted on mediabeatup.com.au.

Spewing the link was busted :)

It definitely will have to go in mediabeatup.NET

As an aside if you want a guide about how sensitive this topic is (from a legal perspective) look no further than the article comments section.....you can not post any.

I've been emailing the link to the Sins of the Father story to friends who were doubtful of Brett's innocence.

The wider the audience that reads this the better.

It is on the front page of smh at the moment with a pretty catchy headline "Get Brett: The Untold Story".

http://www.smh.com.au/

Great to see.

I agree, I'm sending this to everyone I can while the smh still exists. It's a shame that news are not cutting 1900 jobs

Good to see the opinion is slowly being swayed of a few people on LU

I think this article will finally turn around the opinions of many. Glad a lot of people are picking it up
