With the Manly vs Souths crowd likely to be over 20,000 for next Friday night (26th), it is always good to look back at our largest crowds at Brookie in history.

It will be the 30th time we have got a crowd of over 20,000. If we can get 22,000+, we can get in the top 15 crowds of all time at Brookie.

The largest Manly v’s South game at Brookie was 20,532 back on Anzac Day 1988 .... so almost 25 years to the day .... !!

We need to work on our Home Game Average for this year though, 4th lowest in the comp, and the two Mondays coming up won't help.

    Team - GM - Total - Ave.
    Brisbane - 3 - 113766 - 37922
    Canterbury - 3 - 81876 - 27292
    Souths - 2 - 46799 - 23400
    Sydney Roosters - 4 - 89565 - 22391
    New Zealand - 3 - 56824 - 18941
    Newcastle - 4 - 71918 - 17980
    Wests Tigers - 3 - 49885 - 16628
    Cronulla - 3 - 49854 - 16618
    Parramatta - 3 - 49482 - 16494
    North Queensland - 2 - 31719 - 15860
    Melbourne - 3 - 47040 - 15680
    Gold Coast Titans - 4 - 60231 - 15058
    Manly - 3 - 41525 - 13842
    St George Illawarra - 2 - 27382 - 13691
    Canberra - 3 - 32783 - 10928
    Penrith - 3 - 32003 - 10668

Lets try and get 20K+ at a few games this year.

If recent home sem finals couldn't top 2006's:
    24) 20,163 Manly v Canterbury Brookvale 25-Aug-06
hard to see it happening next week.
They seemed to lock the gates before it gets to 20K now.

We got 20,414 at a regular game Round 25 Fri night in 2011: Manly v Melbourne (the famous brawl). Not that long ago!

It was a great atmosphere that night. Probably the loudest and most intimating Manly crowd ever I could recall at home!

With the Souths fans turning up and standing on the hill we should really try and see the crowd posted in excess of 21,000.

What are we doing as a club to try and promote this game to ALL of Sydney. Are we putting on buses to get Souths supporters there as well as Manly supporters from all over Sydney.

Should make it free transport to & from the game like they do with some other matches.

Not really necessary to be honest. The ticket sales are progressing as we would like them to without having to spend additional resources on buses etc.
As great as this may be, there is a huge cost involved in implementing something like this. Unfortunately we just don't have the money to subsidise free transport.

This crowd is going to turn up big time. The Souths fans will make their way there.

Just encouraging to get as many people in the ground prior to 7pm, before the crush & rush from 7.15pm and getting the crowd queues down.

Buying tickets in advance is going to help, so saying it could be a sell out, we hope more & more get on 'Ticketmaster' & buying tickets in advance!

Having 2 weeks lead in is also a bonus …

I'll be there from Petersham - Who says Manly fans won't cross the bridge? :p

    Should be a top game!

Lucky we are getting Souths and Dogs on excellent time slots. I see they are 2nd and 3rd behind Broncos in crowds. Nice how we make the most money off these guys. Still can't believe Souffs got 32000 vs Storm!! They must be rolling in dough!
We provide free buses and Souffs will fill Brookie up WITHOUT us!! We don't want anymore than 10k of them!!!

I was there for that biggest ever crowd...lived in Moree in those days, came down with my wife and 2 other couples for a show and I said "whilst in Sydney"....can't beleive that I got tickets in the Jane Try, the girls said "we are not going to stand on the bloody hill", so just got lucky I guess.

I wish I was coming to this one, will be in Melbourne visiting my daughter, son in law and grand kids.

But there is one good part.......the son in law is a rabid Souths Fan......so expect fireworks!!

we are currently 4th in away crowd averages so it would appear that Manlt fans do travel, the opposition fans do not.

For home and away we are 7th.

If a few hundred opposition fans could turn into a few thousand (like we will see against souffs) then our averages will be decent.

I think your statement Fluffy is a bit out of context really considering we have played the Broncos and Bulldogs away who consistently have home average crowds of over 20,000(30,000 in Broncos case) in last 5 years no matter who they play so to say Manly fans travels using those stats is a bit misleading.

Saying that our average away crowd over last 5 years is 2 to 3 thousand higher than our home support, not sure if that's because of recent success, traveling fans or our lower home crowd support??

Yep, the top 2 away drawcards. Last time at Wollongong there was 200 Manly fans.

We Manly fans usually have a few thousand at most games, The opposition rarely crack 1000. The broncos game was about 5000 from all reports, they get maybe 1000, usually less.

The draw doesn't help - we have just 4 games against Sydney teams not on Monday nights, we will average over 16K for those. Including the panfers game which will be lower. Had we had Parra and rorters on good timeslots we could be a couple of thousand better off.

Its a bit hard to compare these big attendances with the current day.
Brooky was a 'different ground' in those days.

The Eastern Hill was bigger, the hill was higher. There were less stands and entry into the matches was cheaper (in real terms). Having said that i think we can do better. Lets all get there on the Friday Night to see them thrash the Bunnies.

That Gosford game is bringing our averages down too.
I'm only intersted in the Brookie figures.
We can get 0 at Gosford for all I care. Our drawing power up there has nothing to do with our "home" support.

Considering the gosford game was a ****ty day the 12-13k is pretty good imo. Also add that to the fact I think we get $100k or so for playing there means its also good for the club.

The knights game was a dissapointing show up but conversly the sharks game was great. It looks like there will be another cracker attendance, im going to be there with another mate. Were comming down from brissy

    See you there.

Sunday arvos always get better attendance for us, shame we get only 2 this year. Very hard to take when the bongos get 10 friday nights as they want. Then there is Monday night games.

NRL has a long way to go until it is a fair comp.

I forgot a crowd of over 20,000 not in the list.

Manly v’s Parra – the Crowd 23,211 at Brookie 11-Jul-1976.

So we should crack over 20,000 for Friday night’s game. Hope we can record over 21,000 even with the new configuration, as long as we get people on the hill standing at the back all on the eastern side.
