We missed Ballin in the middle when he left, Lets see who picks up Buhrers 30+ tackles in the middle

Huge hole to fill
36 tackles per match this year.

But maybe number of tackles isn't the target kpi in defence? Maybe dominance measures are considered more important?

Well, our pack will certainly be big enough.
I thought our forwards went reasonably well last season, but our backs were poor. We lacked pace, and skill - with the exception of Tom Turbo who created plenty of opportunities, and the Doorman when he took an intercept.
We need to score a lot more points next season to be competitive. Our backline will have a new look, without two or three of our great players of the past decade, and so I'm not confident that we will have the strikepower to challenge for a top eight spot.
Perhaps our new Northern Beaches suburb, Blacktown, will produce a few decent players for us.
Has Willow been retired to coaching pasture, or is he still involved? Here's hoping it is the former.

According to The Lurker.........MANLY has signed Suaia Matagi!! With our forward rotation & probable signing of Curtis Sironen there will be no excuses regarding go forward next year!!! DCE & Green should thrive in attack. Our backs have speed to burn with Tom T, Uate, Walker etc. Call me optimistic, however if Barrett can somehow get the best out of the players we have & if injuries don't play a part, we are top 4 material....if we miss the finals again then I give up!

That's a lot of big boppers who are mainly straight up and down types, and not many 80-minute players. Will we lack a bit of balance in our forwards?

Darcy was going great till he decided to change his tackling technique. Doing front on chest and near shoulder charges, damaged himself and out for the season. He needs to stop doing that and just tackle properly. Was trying to show toughness and dominance but it wasn't necessary.

I loved how he rushed out of the line to try and put a big hit on. He got so many missed tackles from doing that but he slowed the ball runner down and made them an easy target more often than not.

I don't want him to lose his aggression

Darcy coming of age & Jake/Tom were some of the few highlights of last season. Let's hope he maintains the rage in 2017.
Well he didn't set the world on fire at Parra so Im guessing we would have got him back reasonably cheap. I think what sparked his improvement was we were really looking for a forward leader and he took it on himself to provide that for us. Speaks volumes for his character too. Onya Darcy!!!

Does any one know if hoppa will be allowed to play nrl in 2017 .. If so he should play lock & move jake up to 2nd row where he is more suited .. Can never understand why buhrer wasnt wearing 13 this year & jake 12 .. Jakes incredible work rate & physique tell you thats where he shld be he will give his all in any position but i dont want to ever see him again used as a battering ram in the front row .. His heart is big enough but his body is to small for front row he must be preserved in order to play 10 years at manly

100% agree..We are getting into an era of monstrous front rowers. He has too much class and skill to be thrown to the wolves as a prop. But we've recruited big guys so hopefully we never see him up front again

Hope Jamil is ticking all the boxes in the off season to ensure he's eligible to start next season because I think he's earmarked for Buhrer's role in the club. We'll miss Buhrer's clean up service that also was handled by Ballin. But Hopoate I think will surprise with his X factor attacking flair. He could offer us something like Glen Stewart's fringe work.
