I did see some highlights of Steyn knocking over 61m goals, and have read he is off to France, does that rule him out of future selection

  Matfield and Smit both dabbled in Euro contracts and still play for the Boks.  The travel and time zone to Europe is far more friendly for the saffas so they're not as strict about their fellows chasing Euros and getting out of their razor wire, gated communities for a break.

Personally I think Steyn's ability to kick anything from 65m is great for the game in the long run.  It stops the Richie McCaw's of the world giving away cynical penalties and is opening up the game.
