Cherry Evans ruined it with his greed. Divided the team when everyone else was taking pay cuts. In fact I think cherrys decision has had a huge impact on the game overall in terms of loyalty and money now everyone talks about how careers are a buisness. Whilst cherry may try his heart out.. He takes up most of our cap knowingly and while this continues.. Will we be able to build the culture of old? Mate for mate or all for one? Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just hope the turbo brothers don't follow suit. DCE mentality is himself before the team I'm sorry but it's true. Last yr proves that
Sorry Sean John can not agree with you re Chez.
I know for a fact that Chez wanted to stay at Manly for far less than what he ended up getting, but was told to look elsewhere. So after Foran said that he was gone, management were in a bit of trouble and had to try and get Chez to back flip and by that stage they needed to offer him more money to do that.
Chez was loyal and is loyal, however Foran on the other hand chose money, make no mistake about that.
And further more I really do not know for a fact if Watmough etc took unders as far as I am concerned this is all talk and there is no evidence to substantiate these claims. I know Beaver took less, because he knocked back a bigger offer when his contract was coming to an end from the squeels and then resigned with Manly.
Did Fulton stay or go to Easts, he was offered a lot more than Manly offered him and although I was not born then can imagine how gut wrenching that would have been for fans to see him play in the cheating tri colours jersey. But we won a GF in 78, with out him.
Anyway, loyalty can mean different things to different people. And there are still many loyal players in the NRL, maybe not as many as years gone by though. And I for one value loyalty, very highly actually.
But for Chez, he was treated like garbage and I am actually amazed that he holds himself so well and always speaks well of Manly and that at the end of the day he did actually resign with us. He had many, many reasons not to.
