I often see articles written about Leichhardt Oval and often wonder why does it get so much good press and Brookie so much negative press. Both grounds are old with similar facilities in terms of limited under cover seating, small change rooms, limited corporate boxes and large lines for beers and pies but somehow Leichhardt is always spoken about in a positive way and poor Brookie is shunned as the worst ground in the NRL.

Don't know why it is praised, but there is no pressure on Leichhardt to be a modern venue as it is just one of three home grounds for the Tigers - the others being Leumeah & more recently, BankWest. Maybe the Wests Tigers are favoured as they are a merged entity?

Brookie is streets ahead of Leichhardt - no comparison!

Brookie Fans won't be moved whereas the Tigers gave up their spiritual ground @

Media just attack Manly Fans constantly about not travelling and holding onto our turf

have bene to leichardt - and can say its a lovely ground, and well worth a visit. Great sunday sunshine atmosphere, and feels similar to Brookie. It isn't a competition between the two - both should be cherished and embraced.

Just highlights the double standards of the media more than anything.

The answer to that is simple, Brookie = Manly , Leichhardt = Tigers, if Manly's home ground was Leichhardt , then they would all be bagging Leichhardt.
Nothing has changed since we bought Brannigan and O'neill and an aging Ken Irvine and won in 1972, we were bagged then and we get bagged now, it's that hatred for Manly that gets passed down through the generations.

Because the media (NRL) want Manly gone. Give them an inch and they will take a mile. Any small opportunity to put us down they will to fabricate negative stories to plant thoughts to drown us out.
Been going on for years.
I bet the NRL where rubbing their hands together when Barrett was coach.

Exactly this. It’s a boutique venue used three times a year, just like Belmore. Brookie will be compared to all the other venues. Is Shark park better/equal/worse than brookie? Interested to hear what others think of the suburban Sydney venues in comparison to Brookie (unbiased view please)

They are both **** in terms of what the nrl stipulates as a venue, yet they are easily the best 2 grounds to watch footy in terms of atmosphere

See that is all that matters.

The NRL has a new policy all grounds must have a Polishing Room for Chrome Domes.

I quite like Leichhardt Oval but it is not a patch on Brookvale (sorry Mr Penn, Lottoland) Oval. Most people who visit Brookie aka Lottie love the atmosphere. Only the NRL and some journos who have vested interests complain

Both Shark Park and Leichhardt have limited seating with a good view.

Leichhardt is easy access via a bus, just like Brookie whereas Shark Park is a long walk from Woolooware Station.

Shark Park is now being replaced as part of that 300 million redevelopment so the Sharks won't play there till 2022

Hope they will build a large Northern Stand as the wind/sand from Botany Bay is a killer in winter

CBUS is the best of the modern Stadiums but the roof is too narrow, should be twice as deep to protect from the sun/rain. Really good view from all seats and facilities under all the Stands

Brookie is perfect :inlove:

Fond memories of watching the mid week games played at Leichhardt Oval on the telly with Balmain's famous son Keith Barnes commentating. They must have had the best lighting of the suburban grounds back in the day.

The first lighting of any ground. Pre SCG World Series Cricket.
