I have been lucky enough to meet and talk to Arko on many occasions, just a champion man in every sense of the word , but you know what , I reckon if he was about he'd be playing " hardball" with these two young superstars.

I think he'd sit them down, talk about their aspirations, how they see the club going and how much money they wanted to stay.

He'd pay them overs BUT not way overs , and I think he'd say " well guys this is the money, you know we are a successful club, and it's a great part of the world to live, here's my hand, shake it and we have a deal, walk out the door and we will withdraw from the race and look elsewhere".

Maybe it's time Penn, Kelly & Co did the same thing.

I also had the pleasure to meet the greatest administrator of all times . Arko was a gentleman and earned peoples trust and respect . Arko had great people skills , he was a great communicator and motivator and spoke with authority and never beat around the bush .

Then the game based on tribal warfare and passion is dead, and we are watching out to hire mercenaries week in, week out..and that's recipe for disaster in the game.

Then again, there still are guys like Cronk, Smith, Reynolds & others who just get on with business.

Foran and DCE are certainly unique. Ive never seen anything like it, and as a fan, I have to say it created a whole lot of apathy.

I miss guys like Jason King and the legendary Steve Menzies. If what you say is true, and these two are the example of everyone, I dont know if I want to be a fan of the sport anymore.

Ryan I can understand the apathy but we do still have players like Matty Ballin, hiku (who stayed for less money than what the dogs were offering ) and up and comers like jsl

It will be a very, very sad day when the great mans time is up. He is the root of all that is great about this club over the last 60 years and it would do well for the players, staff and board to appreciate what he built, and their respective role in at least maintaining that while they represent our colours.

Before slipping that little tidbit to the media, they should stop and consider, "...what would Arko think?" If you fear the answer, shut your face.

I really do like the idea of Arko being in that scene from the Godfather II when Michael cleans up the various messes and loose ends of the family business, and utters that great line, "don't ask me about my business."

Maybe we just get Shane Richardson to do our negotiations also....He can do amazing things with contracts all of a sudden now that he is off to NRL HQ...Reynolds $500k...what a joke if they expect us to believe all is equal....I hope they keep a good eye out at Crown Casinos to see who is winning!!!!!

I wouldn't give Reynolds any more than 500k so I don't see that as a joke

Wasn't a joke...why are all the other good players in the comp worth between $500-$750k...yet we have to pay $1.1m to keep each of our halves....We r being screwed to the wall yet everyone else is able to buy whoever they want....for whatever they want...No joke there....and if u don't think Packer buying into South's gives them a huge advantage in 3rd party deals....He could have 10 blokes put in $150k tomorrow to keep some players and they could all "just happen" to win it back a month later across the tables.....

When cherry and foz both got their first contract upgrades after we won in 2011 they both got about 500k a season didn't they?
If Reynolds keeps up good form for another 3 years he'll get stupid offers from other clubs too.
It's funny how a week ago the titans offered dce 1.3 million a season and today they're offering him 950k.
I think once all the media speculation dies down neither will be getting more than a million a season, regardless of where they are.

To even compare Reynolds 2 DCE or Foz is a joke and you cannot compare the scenarios name the clubs that were offering Reynolds big dollars? I can't name any yet DCE and Foz's value is being driven up by other clubs who are desperate for quality halves not run of the mill first graders like Reynolds is. We also don't have 2 pay 1.1 million we can say goodbye. I love the conspiracy theories but until proven otherwise I like 2 think "most" teams aren't cheating the cap to be successful. Packer could do that but we could also do that so why do you believe other people are cheating but not us? what makes us so clean? because we support them? The stuff you just wrote reminds me of EVERY Australian athlete who get's done on drugs and all we hear are they are good people they never would cheat (someone spiked the drink or it was a headache tablet or my mum gave it 2 me) yet an athlete from another country get's done on drugs and we call for life time bans. The point is what you wrote is plausible but it is just as plausible for us with different owners.

So I'm a dope? why because I don't agree with you? Unlike you I just don't drink the kool aid. Who are you blaming for it being dragged on? either way you say everybody is cheating and poor old us. Yep it is everybody's fault because DCE and Foz's value is driven up it's 1 big conspiracy and I'm the dope. I say get the chip off your shoulder and stop blaming everybody else we could have signed them last year or even 2 years a go if they wanted 2 but they didn't that's life.
