50 minute game vs Panfers

that rule just says you can not deliberately knock on. It isn't a knock on until it hits the ground or another player, a deliberate knock on is akin to deliberately throwing it forward into a player or the ground that would be a penalty, so yeah nothing about throwing it forward to yourself

thats exactly why that rule was introduced Dan, back in the day they used to throw it over the defensive line and catch it. it didnt touch the ground but was still ruled illegal.

Then it is pretty poorly worded. It is like they are essentially trying to open up loopholes in the rules, that or they are getting footballers to write the rules.

The problem is that they don't define knock on properly. If you read their definision

"Knock On: means to knock the ball towards the opponents’ dead
ball line with hand or arm, while playing at the ball."

This means that any time someone does not catch the ball cleanly and it goes forward from their body it constitutes a knock on.

THis should actually read more clearly like

"means to knock the ball towards the opponents’ dead
ball line with hand or arm and the ball makes contact with the ground, player, referee, goal post, while playing at the ball."

or something more well written.

Way too many loose interpretations, no wonder the refs get it wrong so much
