Being a true Manly supporter i can be proud in our losses as much as our wins

What is your favourite Manly loss ?

Mine is the 2014 Semi Final loss to the Bulldogs by golden point field goal

Players missing : Glenn Stewart, Matt Ballin, Jamie Buhrer, Anthony Watmough,

It was also Jason Kings last game where he played like an animal.

1 Try to snake ( great try )
1 Try to Jayden Hodges ( great try )

Peta Hiku made the most meters for any back in a final ( broke the record )

Justin Horo started at hooker

Jamie Lyon missed a few conversions and penalty attempts with shaky legs due to pressure getting the best of him in his old age but defensively was faultless

So proud of my team .. Hasson, Dunamis Lui, Jese Sene Lefao all played and had brilliant games

My favourite game of all time regardless of the loss

True Manly spirit and courage

also coached by our little Champion Geoff Toovey

Mine is the loss to the Bulldogs in either that semi final or the rd 23 loss to them this year when we showed that same fight despite a shocking injury list and nearly topped em in golden point. Perfect way to end a terrible, injury riddled and heart lacking season. This match gave me huge hope and assured me that we will be heavyweights again in short time.

1991 semi final vs Canberra.
Down and out with injuries and things just not going our way but we toughed it out to only just fall short in the end.
I can remember being really proud of the blood and guts effort rather than disappointed at being knocked out.

i am going to try get a copy of all the games every one mentions on here and sit back and watch them over a couple of beers

Gary Coyne scored 4 tries that day, while the great Frank Stokes scored 1 for Manly

2008, one of the last rounds vs the storm. We lost the game but it just felt like we had there measure and had worked them out. Couple of weeks later, 40-0 baby!!!
Yep, I remember that one well. Took my father-in-law (who was staying with us at the time) to the game. He's a Queenslander, a Broncos supporter, who was backing the Storm. I couldn't stop smiling after the game because I knew we'd get them next time we played them. Turned out we did.

Definitely proud of Manly this day. Was such a gutsy effort in very trying circumstances.

How ****ed up is the world when the Sharks are 1 game away from a GF and there's a "best loss" thread on Silvertails. If aliens were looking down on us they'd think we were the losers...

Looks like this game is on FoxSports at 8.00am on Wednesday.

That we did mate, still get the goose bumps talking about it.

That was the game where Kite and Crocker went at it. And you could tell it really p@@@ed kite off and I think awoke the sleeping giant. I don't think it was a surprise he got the Clive Churchill medal in the gf.

I was at the SFS for the preliminary semi-final in 2013 against Easts when we lost 6-nil (if my memory serves me well). It was a cracking game, Brett was injured, Hiku was fullback and had a stormer. Neither team deserved to lose that night. It was as good a loss as you can have.

I bought the Roosters 2013 Grand Final DVD box set regardless of the loss because it included the qualifying final we lost 4-0 (also because I attended both games). That game was a defensive masterpiece.

The loss against the Rabbitohs at Brookvale this year is up there, but the way we went down in the 2014 semi-final against the Bulldogs was the most satisfying. God damn we went down swinging.
