Yeah,Paine and his overlord are both batsmen but dont share a technique,Paines batting numbers arent top but you cant deny the kids skill behind the stumps,do realise though i am a pace bowler and love having a top keeper,but keepers who cant bat at international level arent viable,even though id prefer Paine over Haddin personally,i do acknowledge that Haddin can hit runs,i just think Paines glovework wouldnt give him the irongloves nickname that Haddin has suffered in the past

My opinion on Haddin has changed over the 1st few tests of this series but im still sceptical

My wanting for Paine wasnt just because the batting style seemed more batsmanish than the way i percieved (maybe incorrectly,time will tell) Haddin but also team continuity over a length of time,Paine is still a kid,Haddin has alot of age on the kid,which is part of the process i would have used had i have been a selector,the 1st few years of Haddin in my view has been as a placeholder for the next wicketkeeper/batsman to come through the ranks,it happens to be Paine,while he grows as a player and as a person,at this stage i see them as close in style and skill,Haddin gets more runs but Paine is king behind the stumps,if Paine wasnt injured in a meaningless game at this time id use them both,Paine for behind the stumps and Haddin to replace North as a batsman in the team

Its the same reason id want Lockyer to not join us,we have Foran whos a kid and while maybe not as classy as Lockyer,continuity should be taken into account,during any selections

Also with wickets like these,made for batsmen wickets are always at a premium,perhaps the DT isnt so bad calling for a retiree to take the ball back in hand,if he still has the class and fitness to bear the brunt of the series (Re:Warne),it wont happen anyway but given our current spinning stocks....we're in trouble during this for a spinner

Ive never seen the aussies look so shaky and i have never hoped they would win more,australia's test slumber has brought something out of me i never seen coming,hope and actually watching tests for more than just seeing Ponting bat
