young talent

We have such a lot of young talent coming through, this year is obviously a disappointment but our future is looking pretty good.

To be competitive for for the first 30 odd minutes against good opposition, only to give it up with errors compounded by penalties, suggests that inexperience is our problem, far more than lack or talent or bad game plans.

Tome Wright will now be a permanent fixture in the team, and hopefully from next week Fainu will too.

Add that to other young talents such as Paseka, Suli, a couple of young blokes called Trbjovic (or something), we are quite well set up and probably just need another couple of experienced hard head forwards.

The result tonight was terrible but didn't seem to be a good reflection of the game, we tore them apart a few times.

Talent is only worth something if we have the spine, the structure, the coaching and the execution to allow that talent to shine. This eternal optimist stuff is way off base, we are a shambles and are lacking in even the fundamentals of rugby league.

I didn't see one positive out there tonight. As I've been saying. Way too many average players and our "good players" arnt playing well either.

Agree with the young talent we have. But we need the experience in the coaching ranks (and preferably experience of someone who has worn the jersey). The young talent we have needs to be nurtured and developed. Barrett and his staff are not the people to do this. My concern is if Penn doesn’t change things soon we will lose our youngsters to clubs who have a coaching set up that will develop their games and take them to an origin/ international level.

I agree there are some talented kids playing and trying their best. We don't have the right mix of youth and experience and it shows. Hopefully we can get 1-2 crucial recruits for 19.

So true. We would have had Mitchell Pearce were it not for the salary cap saga and it is pretty clear he would have made a big difference.
Going forward, we need another couple of experienced players, but of a better standard than Lewis Brown and Jono Wright.
How to afford them given our cap penalty, this is a rather large problem for sure.

For weeks,I have said since its been obvious that we will not feature in the finals, that we MUST invest in the younger players over the players where the decision has already been made to move them on.

Losing is hard to take for all of us and its hard when you see players who were once really good struggle,

In all the disappointment of another heavy defeat came the glimpse of brilliance from Tom Wright and why we need positive players like that in our team moving forward.
